Eek...meant to get back to you way earlier. Never heard of Flavor Crystals or Notwist, but I've now listened to their lastfm radio stations, but I don't really have a feel for them yet. I'll for real check them out soon. And Happy New Years! I'm going to see lots of bands tonight, of course. Whatcha up to?

I missed Datarock. :( I was so bummed. They actually started on time. We weren't there much later, but we had to wait in a long ticket line, so we didn't make it in until 40 minutes after the doors opened, but I really wasn't worried b/c I've rarely heard of a band starting on time. The Ladytron merch guy said that the Ladytron tour manager is really strict, so they have to stick to the schedule. I don't know why though cause the girls in Ladytron said that they weren't getting on the bus 'til 3am & wanted to know what bar to hang out at after the show. Ladytron was awesome though. They had great lights too...like being at a dance club. It was a lot of fun. And since their show ended early in the night, we were able to go to the Earl & see Shearwater. They were amazing! I highly recommend seeing them when they tour your way.

The Jazz bar sounds great! How was Cat Power? She's going to be here on Sunday although I wasn't planning on seeing her this time round. Tonight is Datarock! :P hehe And Ladytron although I don't really know their music. Everyone has been giving me a hard time about only referring to tonight's show as the Datarock show since everyone else is all about Ladytron.

A jazz or blues gig sounds good for our one non-planned music night. Glad Tapes 'n Tapes were better over there. I've seen Land of Talk once (sort of)...it was my infamous puking @ the Earl from margarita sickness night (it's contagious...better watch out!), so I only saw them play a couple of songs. Anyhoo...Sarah & I went to see the Rolling Stones movie, Shine a Light, tonight. We actually got to see it at the same theatre that Tom Waits will be playing in - The Fox. It's a really nice stage theatre, so seeing a movie there is really neat. Since it is a huge stage/concert theatre, everyone clapped & screamed after every song just like at a live show...it was awesome! And "Champagne & Reefer" w/ blues legend Buddy Guy was amazing! Sarah & I really just went to see Jack White on the big screen though. Go fig, right? ;)

Did I tell you that my parents took off on a cross-country road trip to Las Vegas? My dad is going to play in the World Poker tournament, which lasts for something like 6 weeks. My mom went w/ him, but she's not planning on staying in Vegas for long. She's going to San Diego to visit w/ my sister for a few weeks one last time b/f they move to Japan. It's going to be so hard on my parents not seeing them for 2 years. So how's the end of the semester going? Going mad yet? ;)

Are you going to try to catch Tom Waits in Dublin? I think I'm going to change my UK trip up a bit & come the week b/f & see Andrew & Olga first then hang out w/ you. I'm still not sure on the exact dates. I think I'll fly into MC sometime between June 21-25 & leave July 2nd. Olga said she can meet me in MC when I come in. So I saw the Kills last night. They were really great (highly recommend), but I was a bit too tired to get into it. I was beat from work yesterday, then photoshop class, then going back to work to finish getting everything ready for my boss's qtrly meeting today. And also from going out of town this past weekend. I went to see my granddad & help a bit w/ getting him ready to move to assisted living. We're planning on having a huge yard sale sometime in July. He actually really likes his new place & even knows people. He's like, "I've known so-&-so since 1946" lol.

It took us over 2 hrs to get home & we live less than 20 mins away. LOL...all part of fun I guess. And this week, we all saw DeVotchka! They're amazing! You need to see them when they tour your area. Oh, and Joel & I got our tixs to see Tom Waits! I'm so excited! My plan is to fly to MC on 6/27 & to fly home on 7/4. Does the 27th work well for you? I'm so excited! We'll have so much fun!

We moved her to a less crowded area , got her poncho off & gave her water, then she was okay. After the show, we had to catch the bus to get back to the train & that's when it started pouring. There were thousands of people trying to do the same thing, so we had to wait for a bus for over an hour . Then we got the very last train out.

Hey punk! Good luck in the race tomorrow! :) So Radiohead here was good. I was on the lawn w/ 20,000 people, so I couldn't see much, which kinda sucks when you're used to being upfront. Will we be able to get up front if we get there early? We just got drizzled on during the show here, so it was actually pretty good weather. Sarah fainted twice though. The poncho overheated her.

So I finally watched Atonement tonight...what a sad ending.:( On the brighter side...Tom Waits is touring...Glitter & Doom (check out my profile pik)! And he's coming here on July 5th! I think I'm going to have to plan my UK trip around his show. I was planning on coming back on the 5th anyway. I just need to schedule my flight so I can get back in time. Have you seen Tom Waits b/f?

Btw, love your light animation. Definitely goes well w/ Threads - going diagonal & vertical give weight to the sense of confusion in the song. Straight horizontal out the window in motion shots always makes me think of depressed characters in films. And it's cool how you go from color to B&W to negative.

Hmm...I can't decide about London. Do you think going there for the day would be worth it? I'm not talking about cost so much as time. MC is a cool city, so there's plenty to do there & I could just see London next time I'm in town whenever that may be. Although, I do want to see London. What do you think? Would you prefer to hang out in MC or London for the day? I'd be happy either way.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I've been a zombie these past few days...too many shows. At the Jay Reatard show, I got stepped on & have a big bruise on my ankle & then hit in the head & I was in the back. It was a lot of fun! And the French Kicks were superb! Tapes 'n Tapes were only so-so. And I think I'm good w/ passing on both the gigs you mentioned for the 30th.

I wouldn't even have to think about that...I'd totally jump on stage w/ those guys & pull you up too! Hey, what are we going to do on the 30th? We need another gig. Can we go to London?!? Can I see Sketch City while I'm there? I like seeing all your photos. It looks like a cool place of cool art peeps. Do you sketch there?

OMG...I had so much fun at Peelander-Z tonight! I just got in (1.30am-ish here). I drummed away on a pot & got on stage a couple of times and was the first person Yellow Z pulled on stage at the end of the show. I was up there beating my drum & I even sang Mad Tiger into the mic. I'm so cool! hehehe

Btw, you should watch this movie Sarah recommended to me - Wristcutters: A Love Story. Tom Waits is in it! And all the soundtrack is great. It's got lots of Gogol Bordello and cool music from musicians who have killed themselves. Plus there is throat singing in the movie, which I totally want to learn now.

Hey, we're super again! ;) Cool rotoscope! I didn't even know what a rotoscope was until yours. Good to learn new things. And Don Hertzfeldt's Rejected video is hilarious! I've been insanely telling the bananas in my kitchen that my spoon is too big while holding up my smallest little demitasse spoon. You're making me crazy(er)! :P

Jellied eels?!? Oh man, I may have to rethink coming to England. Have you eaten them? Cool drive-by animation btw. And it's awesome that MGMT is opening for Radiohead esp. since I missed them when they came through here. And guess who else I bloody missed...Explosions in the Sky!!! I slept through it. :( I'm getting old.

Ahhh...tapes & tapes are playing here this month. I hope they're good live. I haven't heard great reviews, so it's a maybe for me. Have you seen them b/f? Btw, I finally watched Get Carter. It's such a great flix! Is smoke still slang for London? I loved the pissholes in the snow bit...never heard that b/f. So am I London street ready now? ;)
