"This Is Your Bloody Valentine" is the 1985 debut mini-album from shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine. Recorded in late 1984 and unlike the band's future output, the band took influences from post-punk and garage rock bands such as The Cramps and the Birthday Party. The album was recorded in Berlin, Germany, upon the advice of Gavin Friday of The Prunes, who told the band to "Get out of Dublin". Not only this, but the half the band's lineup was different, featuring Kevin Shields on guitar, Colm Ó Cíosóig on drums, David Conway on vocals and Tina Durkin on keyboard. The addition of a keyboard player came as a result of the band's inability to find a suitable bassist in time, and so Durkin, who was Conway's partner at the time, stepped in to play keys, with Kevin sometimes adding bass parts into the songs. The album was released on Tycoon Records in january of 1985 to local stores around Berlin, but was unable to be released in the United Kingdom. After the release of the record, the band relocated to London to record all their future material.
