I met Warren Zevon in 1977 at KMET-FM (L.A.) and I at first thought he was Elton John because he had long blondish hair. I had not heard of him then but soon found out that Elton John couldn't carry Warren's jock strap in the song writing department. One of America's true gifts to music.

Prefer the live version here, with Jackson Browne accompanying. Very simple and earnest.

The fuck is that mitchn guys problem? Doesn't he have friends or family to whine to? Gee, his life must be really sad. If my life was so fucked up I found myself spewing limp-wristed, negative gibberish around at total strangers, I'd do something to change it. Maybe work to become a better, happier person or something. Or kill myself. Either or.

His self-titled record wasn't his debut. "Wanted Dead Or Alive" was his debut, featuring only one good track that was in "Midnight Cowboy". The self-titled was his best, though.
