Much of Dylan’s best known work is from the 1960s, when he became an informal documentarian and reluctant figurehead of American unrest. Some of his songs, such as “
Dylan’s early lyrics incorporated politics, social commentary, philosophy and literary influences, defying existing pop music conventions and appealing widely to the counterculture of the time. While expanding and personalizing musical styles, Dylan has shown steadfast devotion to traditions of American song, from folk and country/blues to rock and roll and rockabilly, to Gaelic balladry, even jazz, swing and Broadway.

why the hell is he a bad performer? Because he hasn't got tits en doesn't shake his ass like madonna does? Maybe he can't sing high notes but he sings with more passion than madonna ever has or ever will.

sean_winston wrote:
how could you write that in all seriousness? To put madonna and dylan in the same sentence is bad enough. dylan is a timeless poet who has helped shape generations. madonna is an old try hard (with all respect, i mean she's resilient isnt she) who kissed brittany spears. theres your comparison.

1966 "royal albert hall". would love to know how madonna would have performed under such hostile conditions. she woulda gone crying to her bodyguards. eat dick haters.

mamafanfan wrote:
madonna is way better than dylan as a performer. there is no comparison. dylan is clever with words and is a great song writer. he is, however, a poor performer. you should consider it a compliment to dylan when your old and retarded grandfather thinks dylan is like madonna.

no he has always been a poor singer since Day 1 and it just became aweful after "Time out of MInd".

yeah, no doubt Dylan is infinitely better than Donovan, but Donovan is also really good, and (I see now from your comments) underrated. You guys have ever heard "A Gift From a Flower to a Garden"? Or "What's Bin Did And What's Bin Hid"? Donovan is certainly worth some more listeners

Dylan is and always will be better than Donovan. I don't what you guys are going on about. Dylan is the greatest artist ever, and "Like A Rolling Stone" is the greatest song ever written.

Nice to see younger people getting into Dylan, since I could be your grandfather. Dylan is like Madonna he keeps reinventing himself. Donovan has his place, but Dylan is more proficic.

I love his new stuff, especially "Love & Theft" (massively underrated album). Am I the only one who loves Bob's croak?

HendrixFan42 wrote:
what? there is no comparison between Donovan and Dylan. He has some good songs, but they're all kinda dated, except for maybe Hurdy Gurdy Man or Season of the Witch his lyrics cannot match Dylan, and his songs can be boring, i.e. Mellow Yellow
