It's in dire need of a re-release. The original mix is absolutely terrible and turned me off of the album when it first released.

Honestly, at some point the mix 'clicked' with me. It's still a very unorthodox sounding album, but somehow I'm at the point where I think the mix fits with the very out-there vibe of the music itself.

I REAAAAAAAAAALLY wish they would make SOME heavier stuff again. "Advancing" your sound is cool and all, but changing the band from what it was into something almost completely different with the same name just feels disingenuous. I liked Language, but clairvoyant didn't do it for me and the only other thing they've put out is an EP with the same "radio approved" sound. Please sir, just one new breakdown, you cant keep relying on Flourish to get people hype.

Both Clairvoyant and Language are easily on my top 10 favorite albums of all time, two masterpieces

Their last album was about their friend passed away because of drug usage. It was a really depressive album from a blissful band, and they didn't release an album ever since. Don't use drugs, it can fuck up more people's lives than yours.

ну учитывая что интринзик был полегче экзопланеты, я думаю что они и с карпентером начали бы делать то, что стали после прихода лессарда

Yeah I think Geocentric confusion is my favorite song on the album, it's just so sick. I've listened to Language a few times so far, but haven't "absorbed" it like I have with Exoplanet and Intrinsic. I can say that Language II: Conspire is a pretty sweet song. I love the intro so much lol.

Michael Lessard is an epic guy and i have briefly talked to him a few times and ive personally never interacted with a musician whos as good as maintaining the kindness:distance ratio between fan and musician as Michael is. Really admirable to me, personally.

Exoplanet livestream was gnarly. I missed the vocoder in Vessel, but god, Mike's "in the VOOOIIIDDD" scream in Oscillator was absolutely disgusting. I'm looking forward to any new work they may have in the making.

Language is sick. Blew me away years ago and continues growing. So much love to rediscovered versions either!

They are one of most interesting bands out there right now. Deathcore sucks ass.

They were one of the most interesting deathcore bands by far in the exoplanet days and I almost wish they stayed in that lane longer, but I also love what they're doing now so I'm not that mad about it

I don't know, it sounds like A Perfect Circle to me, which also sounds like Deftones. So whatever, you're right

a lot of it is corny. especially btbam's latest stuff, but contortionist just does it for me. they've evolved with me, if that makes sense

I absolutely love each of their releases for different reasons. Recently found their Sporadic Movements EP. It's neat to hear how essentially all of their albums have their own face/sound, yet still sound very "The Contortionist".

Can someone give me a brief sum-up of their discography and where to start listening? It seems these guys are getting a lot of respect in "prog circles" :)

Well, if you want to go from softer to heavier, start with Clairvoyant and move backwards. If you like prog and deathcore, then start with Exoplanet. Language is probably their most acclaimed album so far. I started with that because a friend of mine strongly suggested it. But it's up to you ;)
