The band was founded in early 2000 by vocalist Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. and guitarist Paul Waggoner: whose prior project was a metalcore/straight edge band Prayer for Cleansing. Since that time, the band has undergone many lineup changes. Currently, the band contains two members from fellow North Carolina band Glass Casket, Dustie Waring on guitar and Blake Richardson on drums. This has caused some question as to the future of Glass Casket, although both deny claims that Glass Casket will break up anytime soon, as the band’s other members are currently busy with college and jobs.
They are avid animal rights enthusiasts, 3 of them vegan and 1 vegetarian.
They have released four full length albums to date:
Between The Buried And Me (2002)
The Silent Circus (2003)
Alaska (2005)
Colors (2007)
as well as a cover album, The anatomy of… (2006) which pays homage to a number of bands that have influenced them.

Can anybody recommend me some bands or artists that sound like the soft jazzy parts of BTBAM, especially the stuff on Colors. Like the jazzy solo in Ants of the Sky or the light jazzy proggy parts in Sun of Nothing. I've been really enjoying those lately.

tommy saying at the end of the live set of colors "you got a lot more of us" ... so fuckin awesome, I hope btbam is still creating amazing music when im old, raising a family or something. And the great thing is I know that they'll never sell out and become some shitty band for the industry.. Such pure musicians. The second set is soo damn refreshing. Ad a Dglgmut and Shevanel Cut A Flip outright gave me goosebumps.. Quality and Production of the entire package is Insane!! BUY NOW!!

I liked colors, but my downpoint was, that I thought they'd never be able to pull it off live. Now I know they can. They even recorded it. Seriously WTF?

I'd probably like Colors more if it was heavier like Alaska.
