[ben shapiro voice] It is literally impossible for four people to live in a Yellow Submarine. That is not possible, that is a fact, you would die of oxygen deprivation before you could make it to shore. Second, why would you want to live in a Yellow Submarine? there is a whole world on land that you can live in instead. Third, and perhaps most important, why would the subamrine be Yellow? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I happen to think this song is lovely. You've got to be heartless not to love it

i mostly love this song, but it's a sequencing disaster on revolver. simply atrocious. but for whatever reason, i absolutely love it as the capstone of the red album. the only bummer is that they put "eleanor rigby" right before it, which still ain't right (it shouldn' t be on the comp to begin with, let alone there)

most children songs ('Mary Had A Little Lamb,' 'Hot Cross Buns,' etc) don't do it for me. 'Twinkle Twinkle' is ok though. And, definitely, 'Na-na-na Boo-boo' is funny. 'Tiny Blue Dot' on PBS Kids is great. 'Yellow Submarine' is very static and not in a good way. Only thing going for it is the lyrics, which I often ignore when listening to music anyway. Just a jazz head, I guess.

literally this, revolver is a 9.9 just because of this in my book - and it's the best album in existence imo.

They had a release strategy where they wouldn't include songs that were previously released as singles (or b-sides) on their full length LP's, in order to allow their singles to shine individually and their albums to be presented as a complete collection of songs that fans hadn't heard yet. It's the same reason why they didn't include Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane on Sgt. Peppers, for example. The Beatles were very anti rehashing sh*t. It is this attitude and the ability of Lennon-McCartney to write massive amounts of great songs on the regular that allowed the pop album to become a full length piece of art, rather than a record with like two hit singles you heard before and the rest filler.

yyyep. gonna be a sore thumb on this album no matter what, but they could've sequenced it better. ideally they would've held onto it for magical mystery tour or the white album, those are wacky enough to do the song justice

Yes, the song itself is fantastic, but I agree with people saying that it shouldn't have been on the album.
