Yikes, was not expecting there to be just a few comments and the one that stands out the most is filled with so much vitriol. This album is actually really great and while many of the originals will always be superior, there’s a lot to love with some of her songs being sung as an older woman who’s voice has seasoned and gotten huskier. Some of these songs speak louder on here than they did in the 70s. Especially the Hejira tracks. It’s a long album, sure. But there’s a lot of charm on this one. I like it! Idk why this other person had so much negativity to say about this one.

Sounds like a bad idea to me in theory, and listening to it comes out even worse. Hay gais from the cover of Project Mersh, let's take Joni Mitchell's songs in all their brilliance, wide-ranging genre diversity and multi-faceted nature, and crush and flatten 'em all down until they're one-note, gray-ed out, toothless 1950s white people lounge bar music mush and slather 'em in laughably ultra-bombastic cheesy film score orchestration wank all over the place! I'm especially pissed off by how slices of rocking awesomeness like You Dream Flat Tires get systematically defanged and stripped of anything that even vaguely resembles energy, excitement or a volume above "waiting lounge at the dentist", and how the combination of overbearing orchestra and Joni's tobacco-fucked voice totally derail and make bathos out of "The Circle Game". Anybody who complains about Night of Hunters should listen to this to see how it can get much worse.
