for everyone who hates this record, I want to say -- WE ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS, WE DON'T GIVE A DAMN FOR WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!

I've never seen this album hyped as much as say, Hunky Dory or Aladdin Sane, but it's a grower for sure

The more I listen to this album ocasionally the more tracks I start to like in it.) So much going on in one album! -- catchy melodies, varied rich instrumentations, funny sound effects, complicated lyrics, A LOT of humor, toying with accents, toying with intonations, parodies, Bowie laughing and sneezing right during the song..) It's possible that you don't exactly like or love this album, but I'm afraid you can't help appreciating all the thought and work put into it. PS: And if you do love it, go find "Let Me Sleep Beside You", "In The Heat Of The Morning" and "Laughing Gnome" (from 'unreleased' of this album or some other edition). They are real gems as well.

Has the bleak humour that characterizes quite a bit of his work. Let's not pretend it's good though!

Same issue as the three self-titled Crystal Castles albums and the three, soon-to-be-four self-titled Weezer albums.

Shame last.fm can't distinguish between this and the 1969 self-titled album.

Underrated, really. Bunch of top-tier tracks. The album is very cheesy and corny, but always fun and self-aware of it.

This album is so adorable, I can't understand the hate. I usually say that represents David Bowie on his "Syd Barrett era". xD

I feel so embarrassed that I'm listening to this. I feel more embarrassed because I like it...

This is a pretty cool album it's basically like an outsider music album by Bowie.

Gracias David Bowie!

This is the weirdest album I've ever heard. I remember my first (and only) full listen of the album, I was laying down in bed exhausted, my head spinning and feeling like I'd pass out any second. I remember there was this one song with rain effects and Bowie is basically snivelling and blowing his nose throughout it. What's up with that?
