production is so lackluster on this... Felix Pappalardi wanted to hide the drums or something? Too bad because the songs are mostly fantastic.

The Royal Albert Hall recording from 2005 really showcases how hard Ginger beat the piss out of his drum kit, it is not fair the original album recordings mask this fact.... I prefer that show over the albums, to be honest. Everyone sounds best.

MyMediaMusic
One of the most legendary albums of all-time, not just in how it sounds, but in how it influenced legions of rock musicians. Everybody wanted to sound like Cream when this came out, and it inspired many kids to pick up a guitar and start jamming. Instrumental in the development of both heavy metal and progressive rock. Cream was one of Black Sabbath's biggest influence's, so without Cream, no metal. Simple as that.

"one of the most overrated albums of all time." Sad to see someone say that. For starters the quality of the music itself is unimpeachable, as there are 8 or 9 very good songs here along with a handful of classic ones and beyond that the influence that this album exerted on psychedelic rock/hard rock/progressive rock/heavy metal/etc. is incalculable. If you think this album is "overrated" (meaningless criticism to begin with) you should probably clean the shit out of your ears and/or junk all the subsequent rock music you enjoy because without this and Cream's other records very little of it would exist as you know and love it today.

Slightly better produced than Fresh Cream, tho' still suffering from excessive panning and weak-sounding drums, but that's Felix's fault.
