This album was an absolute game changer. A few months after it came out, one of the college dudes that worked at the record store I’d go to, recommended it to me. This was my gateway out of nu-metal. Back in the early 00’s, this was so foreign and unique. Will always be in my top 5 BTBAM albums, it changed how I looked at music as a little dude.

Totally agree with this statement for The Silent Circus and Colors. However, I like the remixes better for the S/T, Alaska, and The Great Misdirect albums.

Yeah, it sounds so neutered. I think the S/T and Colors remasters sound pretty good. TSC new production does not fit the songwriting. I’m still undecided / neutral on the Alaska and TGM remasters.

In terms of genre diversity this might be the best album over the whole discography. Being mostly progressive metalcore, it has some mathcore, death/black metal influences, and there we also observe the birth of their own style of songwriting that were developed on Alaska and especially Colors. I won't say it is a masterpiece, but it is a really strong album.

musically this always reminded me of Tetsuo from Akira when he becomes all mutated & pulsing at the end....just terrific and twisting structures on this release. always a classic in my ears.

Strong album. Just listened to it for the first time. I'm kind of used to the newer stuff but visiting the early work has been interesting. I liked Alaska and I like this. Hard to understand the vocals at times but otherwise it's a great piece of progressive metalcore fused with some deathcore, mathcore and a little bit of rock. Again: the vocals are kind of... an acquired taste, I guess. This album needs a lot more spins (just like Alaska). Colors is still my favourite though :) 7.5/10

Hmm. A little bit better than the first record but still too heavy on the cheese for me. Vocals are a bit sloppy to me.

It's a decent release, but the vocals are really shitty this time, Tommy's regular growling would've worked much better. There were some parts I enjoyed when he was singing, but the vocals weren't very good on this album. However, the instrumentals were awesome, especially in Lost Perfection A and B, Destructo Spin, and The Need for Repetition. 7/10

Something I've noticed is that Tommy's vocals change every album. Every album by BTBAM seems to have its own charm to it, which I think is something to be celebrated. This album is in fact my least BTBAM album, but I still think there is a lot to be enjoyed here, something that can't be said for most other artists. I too would give this a 7/10, highlights being the medley that is Mordecai, Reaction, Shevanel Take 2, and Ad a Dglgmut.

What the hell are these vocals....these instrumentals deserve more vocal legibility.

Still their best work, hands down. I still remember going to the record store to buy this when it was released. I do respect that they have grown as song writers and musicians on later albums, but the latter work just doesn't "rock" the way this album did. However, they lost me after Colors.

"Back in the day" I thought this was the shit, nothing could be better. I think they have better stuff now, but this album really has a special place for me. Especially regarding the lyrics, I'd never heard anything as self-aware. Maybe not their best, but probably my favourite.

The vocals on the opener are....rather ugh. This album is pretty good, though. :)

This is the band I loved. The band I miss. Hell even "Alaska"-era was just fine with me, after that though.. how the mighty have fallen. Goodnight sweet prince.
