Hello! good to hear from you! I really like Sign. I think the diversity of textures and the lack of really strong beats for some of it is refreshing. I really love some tracks on Plus too but don't think I'll be picking it up... there are too many tracks where it feels like they run that sort of loping beat underneath all the algorithms doing their thing and rhythmically/density wise it doesn't change much and then ends... OBVIOUSLY this is a hideous over simplification of their sound but I just can't nerd out on it as much as the die hard fans :)

Interesting. I really like both of them but I always go doolally over new Ae records! Other favourites this year are Throwing Muses - Sun Racket, Beatrice Dillon ~ Workaround, William Basinski ~ Lamentations, Amnesia Scanner ~ Tearless, Jason Molina ~ Eight Gates, Jon Collin & Demdike Stare ~ Sketches Of Everything / Fragments Of Nothing, The Wolfhjounds ~ Electric Music, Christopher Bissonnette ~ Wayfinding, Shinichi Atobe ~ Yes, Sarah Davachi ~ Cantus Descant. Anyway, hope you and yours are keeping safe and well. Nick x

Aw man, only just seen this sorry! 2018 already feels like an age ago! Looking at your list I'd ask if you checked out the Tomat Petrella album and also Pariah? Otherwise I have a few of the same in my top ten though I never got into the Tim Hecker and you reminded me to go back to the Sarah Davachi again... oh yeah and if you like weird ambient a bit like Aphex's SAWII then try the Blue Chemise album... and on an electronic tip I liked the Bruce album.. and for a bit jazzy the Anenon album... phew, think thats it!

Great to see you've listened to that excellent Chihei Hatakeyama LP, I was going to recommend it to you. I'm loving it, could be an end of year favourite.

Thanks nick! Epic! Great to see Abul Mogard there - really been enjoying that one. Didn't get into the Hecker this year, might have made a too hasty first judgement... same with Biosphere.. and Andy Stott! I loved his album before this one... so little time, so many good records!

Having loved the 1st Parquet Courts album, I was waiting for it to appear on emusic and then when it didn't show up, I never got round to getting it.. listening now though with a view to picking it up... Same situation with the most recent perfume genius... Did you try the viet cong album?

totally understand... am often in that place... If I don't chat with you before, have an AMAZING christmas, ya hear.. I'm totally copying your idea of putting a 'tunes of 2013' playlist on spotify... not listened to yours yet but love the idea of this (esp. while I'm at home a bit more than normals)...
