If Pierro makes the remaining Beatles upset they can wipe their tears on the hundred dollar bills they earned in their solo careers and as the band. I don't really care that much for them one way or another. Their fanbase which consists largely is people who just discovered music is pretty easy to rile up though which is kind of funny. As for metal, maybe you'll like Monster Magnet or Bongripper or something. Although my favorite metal albums I recently heard would be Voivod - Phobos and Coroner - No More Color.

I don't really find that to be the case. He's given good scores to popular bands like AC/DC not to mention he's a huge fan of Springsteen who's quite a titan too. Even Korn and Limp Bizkit which is kind of bizzare but it goes back to how I think he just takes it for what it is. There's The Beatles though which is his big controversial and not to mention endlessly quotable opinion. But I think it's pretty clear that he gives popular acts a fair shake.

No need to be so dry and humorless. But since we're at it and you recognized the source. What do you think of ol' Pierro then? I don't necessarily agree with him on the Beatles thing, but I think he's generally pretty fair and managed to take things for what they are while ignoring the hype which I think is pretty admirable.

With the Pixies it's hard to pick just one favorite album!! If I had to pick I'd give it to Surfer Rosa. That's the pixies at their most violent! Though every time I put on Doolittle I'm consistently surprised at how FULL BODIED it is, listen after listen. Actually I was playing Pixies tunes with a music buddy yesterday! Me on acoustic guitar and him on bass. We rocked through Caribou, Tame, Hey, Where is my Mind, and Subbacultcha :D Probably gonna make a Pixies cover band now. Wanna be in it?

You should type up something about Twin Infinitives for me :D I LOVE Royal Trux, but every time I try to get into that album it's a brick wall for me. I enjoy it to an extent but I can't understand it well. It's like all the people that enjoy it are listening to a different album than I am!! --- Also my suggested listening order for both bands: Royal Trux: Cats and Dogs, Self/Titled, Accelerator, then the rest. --- TFUL: Lovelyville, Mother of All Saints, Admonishing the Bishops EP, Strangers from the Universe, then the rest in chronological order. The self titled Royal Trux album is like a lobster playing keith richard's guitar parts and it ROCKS. It's like the drunkest most disorderly music you've ever heard. Nothing sounds like that album. --- Thanks for the TMR advice :P I actually tried playing from different points on the album as if it were vinyl. I tried the last 8 songs and it was an impenetrable wall of confusion and shouting randomly. I'll give Ice Cream for Crow a listen!

You've gotta let me know then what I should do :p Every next listen to TMR brings me more in focus of its realness. Every time I get a little bit farther either through memorization or understanding, and I hit a new length of the album at which point I lose focus and the songs blur together. Eventually I think I'll reach the full span of TMR and love it. Since Lick My Decals Off, Baby comes after it, should I keep that one for later after I'm done taking in TMR? It just sounds like if I get into it too early that it'll throw a kink in the system and overload me.

I have heard Safe as Milk and Trout Mask. Can't really pick a favorite. As understanding of music and instruments as I may be, Trout Mask is a continuing adventure that I have to revisit every now and then. Every next listen reveals more about it. I understand it better every time and yet it is still a labyrinth of confusion and noise. I'll have to hear more Beefheart albums to make my mind up :3 also your charts are great too! I like your list. I think making these kinds of lists are one of the hardest things to do. the thing that confuses me is the Black Dice album on there. I've never considered them a "rock" band

That's cool. What instrument do you play? Do you write music? If so, what kind? I don't do drugs. Caffeine and alcohol fuck me up enough as it is (for example, I mix red wine with my medication and I am now waking up at 2 pm every day and drinking 2 cups of coffee leaves me speedy and jittery). In fact, I went crazy in my late adolescence and all the doctors and nurses were convinced I was addled by the heaviest drugs. When they took my blood sample, it was the cleanest they'd ever encountered! I see that you have taken refuge in academia - it's a great option! When I was a teenager I hated academia and my dream was to become a novelist. The more likely option now is becoming a dull academic. Good on you on becoming a 'happier' person! It's tough, but by nature I am a miserable fucker. As for my writing - I am writing a book of stories and I want to start planning 2 novels soon. Here are some of my stories (don't feel obliged to read any of 'em) -

Well I always loved Dub Housing and I throught you too. Terminal power is amazing compilation. I loved first track of New Picnic Time, but the rest, i dunno, wasn't any interesting for me, still decent record. Is there difference between versions on Datapanik in Year Zero EP and the same tracks on Terminal Power? All the stuff they released in 1978 is god-tier

oh and of course, how I got interested in music. Long story short, like anyone really. It was a casual progression from classic rock in middle school, to alternative music of the 90's for high school and the last 3 years has been an expansion too broad to narrow down to any niche. I guess it all really began in 7th grade. I didn't really care for music before that, but I saw transformers the Michael Bay flick and the song What I've Done really caught my attention. Since then i've been hooked to music. Not much of an awesome story, I know. But that's the gist of it.

other comment got a little too long. Unfortunately i don't have a turntable lol. I want one really bad. I thought it was a funny, stupid joke I could use. I do have a pretty impressive cd collection started! I got about 50 cd's under my belt. One day when cd's are in again, I can have my bragging rights. Until then, i'll just keep to myself about it lol.

I figured as much. No worries - no judgement here. Say is there more of a chance of you getting caught in your country by being an illegal mp3 uploader / downloader? Sucks that a passion like music can be perverted into some sort of heinous crime. Well i'm from the balkans, Bosnia specifically. It's a terrain mostly ran by slavic affairs. Slavics are normally catholic or something, but not Bosnia. Since its close connection to the Adriatic Sea, it has a direct course to Turkey, hence its Islamic influence. I'm just go along with the traditions to keep my family happy, they don't have too much of a hold on me other than maybe serving a few of my world view points. That's about it. How about yourself? Ever been outside your country?
