I mean, they're not exactly WORLD MUSIC or BHANGRA or RAP or AFRICAN-AMERICAN or what have you!

I'm comparing shit we've listened to for the last three months... yeah, not gonna happen. Either you listen to more MAINSTREAM J-THINGS and post-rock or I... I have no idea what strange white bands you listen to. Either way we're shit out of luck!

Never, pops! I see your nefarious scheme, but I'm afraid I'll be sticking to the classical side of things for a loooong time to come, bar something else happening. Like bands that sound like Oceansize.

Buuuuut the one I'm listening to has a lot of strings! Delicious cello, in fact.

yeah I like Deerhoof but have never seen them live. seems like they'd be fun. And agree part of the fun of Lightning Bolt is surrounding them on the floor... Crazy spastic bands are almost always good to see live.

I didn't even end up going. It was extremely hot and I was exhausted from seeing The Oblivians and The Gories. That coupled with the fact that Steve DeRoo and his girlfriend crashed at my place the night before and we were up until about 5 made me a bit tired for pretty much that entire day. I'll catch him next time. For The Gories & Oblivians there probably won't be a next time.

Absolutely! I probably paid a similar amount to see them here in the UK actually. MBV are a blinding band live...but for the love of God, take earlplugs with you. I've never been to a louder gig in my life. Best of luck with getting hold of the tickets!

I blame just the pure volume of Bright Eyes songs I have coupled with my affinity for shuffle on my iPod for Conor to reign quite easily at my top spot. What's more amazing is how many plays Op Ivy have with just their single album on my iPod.

Sound Horizon really takes several listens to really get to like them; I had to listen to Elysion, Roman, and Moira several times through before it REALLY hit (Elysion the most out of all of them), but I'm predisposed to enjoy symphonic metal + folk + opera + whatever Revo throws into it, so it was mostly a matter of time. But you'd probably like くるり (Quruli) since you (apparently) like Supercar--grab Tower of Music Lover, it's a 3CD "best of", or, barring that, The World is Mine, Team Rock, or Nikki, although my favorite song by them is Rock'n'Roll (ロックンロール). They're electro-rock. Ish. I don't know, I suck at genre.
