Holy cow! long time no talk! I've been doing good, how's it going for you? I got really into collecting vinyl like 9 years ago so I've gone full on into that but now I'm running out of space so I've been cutting back and selling some. I get a lot of my music recs from the folks over at https://www.needlesandgrooves.com/ if you ever wanted to check it out. It's a really good spot and reminds me a lot of the RB Forums. It's related to vinyl but you don't need to be into the hobby at all. We talk about everything over there.

It's soo good! Ever since her EP I am constantly worried that she'll go full pop but hasn't done it yet. The perfect mix of dream pop and pop. Her last one is even better IMO if you haven't heard it.

lol cheers! SSLYBY was one of the very first bands I ever saw live. I think second band ever behind of Montreal so they hold a special place for me.

It's really good! I never listened to them until this year with the new album. I can't believe what I was missing out on.

It's pretty good! I'm excited they're finally making something that exists by itself. It's not a soundtrack or accompaniment to something else. That's what, I think, made their first album so good.

Totally agree! Waiting for a whole album! Btw. Do You like Bersarin Quartett? He should release new stuff this fall.

ha for real. last.fm 'til I die. I guess because I still listen to mp3s and refuse to stream it's still cool to see how much I've listened to; what and when.

I agree. I've actually got this synced up to my Spotify these days, which is great being able to scrobble from my laptop AND my phone on the go. There was a period where my profile was just laying dormant for a while. Nice to be back on here, forgot how handy it is for things.

Thanks for the Celer rec. He has quite a confronting amount of releases, do you have any suggestions on where to start?

I'd say "Two Days, One Night", "Templehof", "Sky Limits", "Engaged Touches", "Discourses of the Withered", and "Continents" would be good places to start!

Thanks. I had a quick skim listen of them all on Bandcamp and it's exactly what i was after.

just a word of warning, he sometimes will take albums off of streaming on bandcamp from time to time, so if you really like some I'd recommend buying them or finding them elsewhere. I think a lot of people will listen but not download, so they're basically listening for free. I'm pretty sure he doesn't make bank, so it's nice to support when I can.

also realizing I should have recommended "Weak Ends" and "Jima" when I had re-read your shout on Eluvium's page. Both of those are just soft looping ambient. really nice stuff.

Eluvium once before I was a fan in 2011 because I saw him open for Explosions in the Sky in NYC. I had no idea who he was and he only played piano songs. I was so engrossed in his music that I got way into him following that. I saw SotL live twice in 2015. Once in Portsmouth, NH. Weird venue, it was standing room only and I was about 3 feet from Brian McBride. The next day I saw them in a church in Brooklyn and was in the last row of a massive cathedral. I also had tickets to see them in 2013 in NYC when they played like 6 NEW SONGS (ugh!) but it was a massive snow storm and I couldn't make it because I was coming down from CT at the time. I have an audio recording of that show and it is amazing. Somewhat makes up for them not putting out new music in 10 years. Thanks for asking!

Oh, also check out The Claypool Lennon Delirium's Monoliths of Phobos. It's psychedelic rock that's impressively compelling. Not a lot of listeners, but I think it's top 5 for Album of the Year.

Yeah, I wish we'd get alerts. Anyway, the Sloan albums Twice Removed and One Chord to Another are probably their best, but I also love Between the Bridges, which inexplicably has few listeners. All 4 members are great songwriters/singers. Tremendous band.

To promote a couple of bands from Canada (my country), one is Sloan. They're a fantastic power pop band that made some headway worldwide. Hard to pick a best album. Another is Two Hours Traffic, especially the 2007 Polaris-nominated album "Little Jabs." The latter has an endearing optimistic alternative sound that I find sublime.

Yeah, the band name is a lame joke. But the album Pure Mood is pretty special. It's a bit inconsistent, IMO, but the best parts are spectacular.

True that. Almost all of the songs are less than 3 mins. Always leave 'em wanting more. ;-) I've been mostly listening to them in the car, and there's no way to transfer the scrobbles, so the album doesn't really register for me on last.fm. Oh well.

Cool. Beach Slang is pretty special. I hear the obvious influences in there, but they have their own sound.

Oh shit, I didn't even see that Refused comment on my thing. Hell yeah! I know a lot of people are butthurt over how it wasn't a SOPTC pt.2, but personally I love how different it is. You can really hear some of the Noise Conspiracy sounds coming through on certain tracks which I think is great/
