Hi! It was a couple of months later that I found out myself. I didn't read a lot about what happened, and I had to wonder whether the artistic differences had any relation to the recent shift I'd noted on Masters of Destiny (see that song's shoutbox)... however that was only one song, so I doubt it. Anyway, I'm glad they went out with what is in my opinion their best album. And I seem to recall that 14-15 years ago, a "real Delain fan" was a fan of them as a band with Charlotte, while a lot of people (myself included) got in via guest-vocal-only songs and initially valued the guest vocals over Charlotte's; in my case it wasn't until April Rain that I realized how amazing Charlotte was. Now it's the reverse - some would argue that a "real Delain fan" by definition is a fan of Maestro Martijn and shouldn't consider Charlotte important to the meaning of what Delain is. But me, I kept listening to Leaves' Eyes after Liv left. It's pretty difficult to match that in sheer ridiculousness. :P

Congratulations on obtaining the ">8500 artists listened to" milestone :-) ... I saw you in the "Discovery Leaderboard" section (July 3-9), you are at #1 place there (I am in the Scrobble LB): last DOT fm/user/ringwraith10/listening-report/week ... How are you doing on your side of the globe these days? I assume you and your family stay at home more recently in these pandemic times, as we also here in the German side of the EU ... Stay safe and let's clean our hands very often - and get on with enjoying music quite aloud on this Monday, Andro

Thanks :) Ha, that much be because I listened to Spotify's mainstream hip hop / RnB weekly playlist and some related autogenerated radio, and had almost none of the artists in my library before. I work at a retirement community, so I didn't get quarantined at home, though I wouldn't exactly say I'm an "essential worker," since I do photography/design/social media stuff. Of course it's very possible my workplace could go under if there's an outbreak there, especially with the dining hall reopening and family visits resuming this week. Thank you, stay safe :)

Thanks, we stay at home mostly, better safe than sorry. From our near environment, thankfully no one caught the virus either. But one can never know for sure... We all are waiting for a vaccine which seems to come next year only :-( Were there any casualties in your community? Here at begin of the virus, elderly died faster than the younger generation :-( Then they learnt and made visit restrictions etc.

Now I see a post saying "If you've somehow watched twenty whole episodes of Gintama and you still don't think it's funny at all, you'll probably never like it," followed by others saying watch 30 or 50 episodes. I guess I can fit that much in next year :) I don't like anime comedy in general, but I'm more concerned that I didn't find anyone to like or care about in the first cour. I'll report back :D

もちろん :D (plz don't reply in Japanese, I've never studied it) My whole situation with followers is a mess because it used to be a "friend" system like other sites, and I would get a lot of requests because I had elaborate gif avatars and hung around popular shoutboxes, and I'd accept all of them ("I collect them like Pokemon," as one of the old Kamelot shoutbox regulars said). In 2015 "friends" were transformed into mutual following, so now I'm following/followed by hundreds of people I can't recognize or remember. :P Maybe I should clear my following list, but I'm not sure how many old lastfm friends from 8-10 years ago are even still scrobbling. Ever heard this Japanese symphonic metal band? https://www.last.fm/user/nDroae/library/music/LIV+MOON I like how a lot of modern J-music has the symphonic metal/rock aesthetic... in 2015 Japan became my main source of music in general, but I still haven't properly explored it. Partly because I didn't like male J-pop vocals until recently. :D

I'm sorry, I was thinking I should listen to them properly before replying but then I kept putting it off :D I think I'm caught up now. CARNAVAL THE ABYSS is great! The thing with Liv Moon is generally I've only been able to get into a couple of songs per album, and they're one of those artists that's hard to sell people on because their publisher deletes their songs from YouTube and most of their music isn't on any streaming service as far as I know (at least in my region). But my favorite album is Golden Moon :) And I just found out they put out an album in 2012 and an EP in 2016 that I didn't know about. I was SURE I'd been checking and they hadn't put out anything since 2011 :P

For a while my top album of the past year was that Gosick ED single :D It's climbing my overall top tracks... already more plays than any Nightwish or Leaves' Eyes song. Great music but also great lyrics. The chain of events was someone on Lastfm had a Date A Live Kurumi avatar in like 2013, I watched that show in 2015, loved the OP, looked up the composer (Go Sakabe), looked up his other work, found Resuscitated Hope, listened to it like 170 times, finally watched Gosick June 2017. I wasn't keen on the mystery-solving parts (got nothing on the Sherlock Holmes books), but I did like the romance :) I have a new favorite anime series now, Nodame Cantabile. (Only problem is the male lead is a violent tsundere... even in the live action version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSFIgkp5Qec )

I liked it pretty much back when I saw it a couple of years ago and I agree on the awesomeness of Resuscitated Hope :D I'm slowly starting to catch up, Fate/Apocrypha was solid, I'm currently watching Violet Evergarden after waiting for more episodes for an eternity. If not anything else, that's one hell of a visually stunning piece. I'll check Nodame Cantabile to see what's that all about :)

Oh, and if we're talking recent anime to catch up on, don't miss Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou / Girls' Last Tour, another new favorite :) I'm not sure you'd like it, but it's unique and well-regarded, worth a look. Extremely atmospheric, cute slice of life / iyashikei in a bleak far future post-apocalyptic city. I read the manga first and it's good, but I think the anime is actually considerably better than the manga, or at least my experience was.

I'll check it out for sure, sounds good. I usually start with the manga but I'll follow your advice :) I'll be in the UK soon but will get to it when I have some more time to spare. Thanks for recommending it ^^

Just approved :) I'll have to add some series to my list as I've pretty much deserted MAL, but let's see if I'll catch up - we don't have the longest motherhood in the EU for nothing :D Jokes aside, I'm slowly getting back online. I haven't used Last.fm scrobbling in a long time and if I want to sync each device I use... Let's just say it will be too much of a hassle. On a side note, Auri's album is the perfect lullaby for the little one :D Probably the most relaxing music he's heard since day one.

Thanks :) I like to have people with interesting opinions as MAL friends, because if you go to any anime's Stats page you can see your friends' ratings of it. Here's the current user-made equivalent of Lastfm extra stats: http://graph.anime.plus/within_darkness/profile (their recommendation algorithm isn't as good as Lastfm's though :P) I've given up on accurate scrobbles because Spotify mobile is scrobbling some songs 2-5 times per play and others not at all ._. I've been really out of the loop on the scene, just found out about Auri and the new VoA in the past couple of weeks. :P

I'll check the graph but it might be pretty outdated. Thanks! :) I don't think you're missing out much when it comes to the rock/metal scene in terms of new albums. Not many truly fascinating records, although 2018 started nicely for me with the new ISON and Orphaned Land. There are some cool heavier things on the horizon while I wait for Kamelot, WT and possibly Delain. VoA was pretty monochromatic, Auri is... Let's just say it works magic when I'm putting the baby to sleep :D

Hahaha! I've been good thanks, just got back from visiting my mom in England, there are some pictures on Facebook including a ruined abbey in Wales that would be perfect for a metal video :) And I started learning Russian on Duolingo, although I stopped for the trip and haven't started again yet.

I'll check on the pictures for sure. I've also been traveling a lot, mostly at the beginning of the year. Had some good shows planned for the end of the year like Ayreon in September and Delain's gigs with Marco, but I'll have to skip on them. Good thing I found people to get the tickets off my hands :D

I think my family was hoping my birthday would coincide with my grandfather's, I don't remember exactly when it is because he died over a decade ago, but IIRC it didn't happen because I came out late. I never want to leave a comfortable place. :D If the people I know IRL who like Nightwish could/would go, I'd go to that, but last time by myself was just not very fun, so I'm not planning on going. Also I think it's hilarious that people expect a new album next year; we'll be lucky if it's out in 2019. Or unlucky if it isn't better than the last. With the tour, it could be as late as 2021! :P

Absolutely, I think they'll have at least two more years of tour cycles, ending sometime during 2019. Considering they'll take some time off to write new music, I don't see a new album landing anytime earlier than 2020. I'm fine with that but I'll need some substitute cool music in the meantime. This year has been especially poor in terms of quality. :/

Hashtag #Nightwintersun. I've gone from paying some attention to European metal to almost none, since I turned my attention back to Japan, which is outputting good songs and soundtracks faster than I can keep up with, including a lot of symphonic rock. But my Japanese songs of the year for last year and this both sound 60's/70's influenced, and not in a Lana Del Rey way... so at least I'm not 100% predictable in my likes :)

The Japanese scene is wonderful and bloody rich, especially when out comes down to soundtracks. I didn't like 2017 in terms of metal except 1-2-3 albums, so it will be interesting to check what you're into. That retro vibe you mentioned sounds delicious - can you recommend something?

The thing about J-music is I *never* like whole albums, that's why I never bought any of their physical albums until last month when I decided I wanted more Lisa Komine than I could find online :D So any recommendations I could give would just be individual songs from my top tracks. The two I mentioned are Great Days from Jojo and The Other Side of the Wall from Princess Principal. Both have jazz-style female singers, but I haven't listened to their other work yet. It's usually a one-time songwriter/singer collaboration set up for the anime, so you can never get the same singer with the same music sound again.

You should watch some tv shows, are good too, at least I think but there are people that don't like how asian act in tv shows and stuff, I like. The lake house you talk is the one with Keanu Reeves? I watched just a part acutally. I think I don't know how it ends the film. Thank you very much :D

Ah I get it, I saw some dramas, but there were tv shows, and I didn't know about these films, I'll search for them :) I see, I also don't plan nothing, but it seems like I'll have to plan somethings now that I'm getting old xD I have to find a job. I wanted to move to another city too.

Yes, indeed :) Ah I see, I had an anime I would like to finish, Inuyasha in 2014 I finished, it was cool. Yes, it's cool to remember that feeling of childhood, but it is also good to see new and great things nowadays, right :) The shows today are different and good at the same time. How was your weekend?

Really?! he is a little similar with a girl hahaha, I think he is very funny xD I like the adult Koenma more. I watched YYH in Portuguese, it's really fun too. So I don't know Koema's voice in Japanese. What I think a funny thing is that women do men voices in anime haha. I also think is magical and nostalgic, even if I didn't watch the anime a long time ago, you know. I watched just a few animes when I was a child because I just watched open tv that time. It's good that I can watch many animes now :)

Okay, thank you for telling me :D It's good that I like romance hahah. Oh, I got it, I know that Sailor Moon is a classic, right?! The girls in Yu Yu Hakusho you mean Keigo and Botan?! I like them :) the characters of Yu Yu Hakusho are very nice :D at least the main characters. And I agree that the anime has a fantastic action. Do you think the old animes were better?
