Not a lot of people notice that background voice on A Man/Me/Then Jim. Impressive ;)

You know, maybe it's not even true about T&S and paramour touring. This lady is well connected & all, but she might have just been teasing me.

Yes, you see my point. The person who told me, she lives for Paramour, and they are kind of popular, so I didn’t say this to her, but I was really surprised Tegan and Sara would be opening. I just hope they garner new fans – but it is a little backwards. I like Bruno Walter, he was Gustav Mahler’s understudy. I will look for that recording…

Oh, Tegan & Sara’s “Sainthood” is growing on me. And someone told me T&S are going to tour as opening act for Paramour. (!??!) I am not sure what I think about that…

Really? An orchestral version? I have only heard the Liszt piano transcriptions of the 9th Symphony as purely instrumental versions…tell me more - I am intrigued.

As to their break up – A) yes, I’d cry too, I think a lot of people might. No, I have no reason to think they will split, it’s just they ARE doing things separately, which is just healthy, I hope! And B) Yes, their banter – kind of the point I was trying to make with my “I’ve seen video” comment. I might buy a CD of just their stage banter.

I love “So Jealous” - but not at first, so it might just be down to me really. I do love “Dark” from the Con. I will listen to that 6 rimes in a row. Maybe they will split up - I wouldn’t like to see that, but then we might get twice as much music from them, and Sara’s music you’d think would be poppier and bouncier (she’ll get the Descendents or Manic Hispanic to back her!) And I kind of like that, even as much as I love and respect Tegan’s more introspective, cerebral stuff. I haven’t seen them live but I’ve seen video and God, how can you not love them? Actually I do hope they remain together and do another 40 more CD’s before I’m dead. But they’d better hurry.

What did you think about the last two Tegan & Sara CD’s? I was a bit let down. Maybe that view will change, it often does. I was also very disappointed by the last 2 by Tori Amos.

I love the 9th too, but to this day I usually only listen to the first three movements. Even among choral works, the 4th movement of the 9th is not a favorite of mine. I do like it more once it gets past the main theme.

Hey, thanks! I do so agree about the Alt country and the old corny stuff. And I can listen to anything in small enough doses. And even enjoy it. Opera is definitely an acquired taste. I got into it (not very far into it) through Beethoven’s 9th, then Bach cantatas, then Wagner. I still am not into most of it. I hoped you wouldn’t mind be being chatty, but I guess that was a clumsy effort to kind of make sure. Well, thanks again.

I will try to keep under 1,000 words for once. I didn’t used to like much jazz, there is still much I don’t care for. I dislike/like a little of every kind of music, some more than others. I’ve played C&W for a living (it’s more fun to play than to listen to, just barely) so have played with lots of violin players. I liked it; I think electric guitar and violin go good together. I keep saying “electric” guitar because I have never owned or wanted to own an acoustic guitar. That’s just me. I failed badly at keeping this short…

I played electric guitar (influences John McLaughlin & Jimi Hendrix), I also played electric bass, and that quite well (bass). I think that we guitar players get much more stupid when we put on our guitars. IQ drops a good 30 points, maybe more. MK&tSH’s problem was that we started with a singer who wrote songs (and could do both – so we were pretty good then) and when she left we continued with the rest of us trying to sing, That was a big mistake. We also jammed even longer (3 soloist!) to fill up the space - what with having a five song repertoire (I exaggerate) and crap vocals. A club actually paid us to stop & go home. No lie. Probably our best paying gig ever. Do you still play? Do you like Jazz? Great drummers there. Have you heard Dennis Chambers? Excellent fusion drummer.

I was in a band called “Micro Koy and the Space Hamsters”. We were sort of a “Derrick and the Dominos” meets “Laura Nyro” kind of thing. “Micro Koy" referred to a diminutive Japanese person who was a member. We didn’t totally suck. Just mostly.

The last string Quartet OP 135 in F. The Op 95 Quartet in Fm. The Quartets Op 59 1-3. Look for the Tokyo Quartet version if you can – try your public library so you can see what you think – for free! Piano sonatas: Op 10 #3 in D, Op 110 in Ab, Op 90 in Em has always been a favorite of mine a small work and very “classical” in it’s manner. Most of the sonatas are wonderful, Schiff, Kempff, & Brendel are a few of the pianist I like in Beethoven The “Missa Solemnis” is great, it’s a big work form around the time of the 9th symphony, not an easy piece to love but really worth getting into. Look for the JE Gardiner reading. I have always loved the 4th symphony, in Bb, any of the cello sonatas, the Piano trios Op70 are both great…I could go on.

“Are you referring to my comment on "Who [sic] Do You Love?" – I don’t think so. I think it might have been a shout on a “Hunter Valentine” track, perhaps the bit about – “people who like the Space Hamsters deserve to be lied to”, I’m just not sure. I liked a few. Mooohaha?
