I've just read your post in the "Beyond the Matrix" shoutbox from September last year ("tbh no Epica song really stands out to me. I like all their stuff but except for the first 3 albums I couldn't really say which song belongs on which album etc.") and this describes my feelings about Epica almost completely. It's like they have their template for music that they don't venture far from, and I like that template, but if I were to identify a random song of theirs, I would have to think long and hard, with maybe 7 or 8 exceptions. If you asked me what album a song (even a single) comes from I'd be in even more trouble :P Cheers from Poland!

Yes, same. But it's probably also because when I first got into Epica, they only had the first albums out which I listened to a lot. That was before Spotify & co so I didn't have that much music and listened to the stuff I owned a lot more. Maybe you know that feeling. ;) But as I mentioned: Awesome live band which really made me get more into their "newer" (haha) stuff.

I can definitely relate. I went to their show in 2007, when they had, I think, only 2 albums out. And yeah, I imagine listening to songs on the internet instead on the physical carrier, such as CD, with a booklet in front of you, only makes things worse. Greetings from a user who joined shortly after you :)

Legendary user! I see you in almost every band shoutbox here and it's good to see someone that knows and likes a lot of different stuff. Loved your massive library, mine is still growing, and we're almost super :)

Having Lorna Shore, Summoning and Marduk in common is nice. Agreed on missing the old Last.fm:)

Hi folks !! User from 2006 gang here also. But last.fm was founded in 2002, in London. I have seen profiles founded in 2003, but I don't remember anyone from 2002. We only wrote in bands' forums, back then. That was before the 'automatic audioscrobbler in 2005', and users had to input track info , almost manually. Good old dayz ! The important thing is just to survive!

Hi. It's been a long time, hasn't? Sorry for the late answer. And, yeah, I've followed you since... a long time, I guess. So far, I"stole" some artists and bands I've seen in your library as well. I really like the diversity of your musical taste - it ranges from pop to black metal!

Indeed. "Getting inspired"... That's it (: For example, right now I'm remembering some gems I forgot about - Ásmegin, Vintersorg, Kanonenfieber and so on. Btw, I see some Zeal & Ardor here and it makes me want to listen now haha

Oh, danke! Hab mich wohl dumm angestellt.

Kannst eigentlich jedes Album einfach starten. :D Ich find "Above The Weeping World" Hammer, aber auch "Shadows of the Dying Sun" und "Heart Like A Grave". ALLES. :D

Haha :D Had to check what I shouted you. Omg, still remember making that shout, can't believe it's almost been 2 years since back then! :O Yeah, still scrobbling but not very active here anymore. After the big changes years ago last.fm just isn't the same anymore.. Life's good, left Germany 15 months ago, spent 3 months in Indonesia and now live in the outback Australia, big changes. ;D How about you?

VERY different. :D I have a good life, just not what I expected or planned at all, haha. Might end up staying here cause I fell in love.. oops. :D Aah, I remember those times with studying and working! You'll survive. ;) I actually have too much freetime these days, not much fun either in a place like this where there's not too much to do. ;D

Life unplanned is the way to go, in my humble opinion. Too much planning and control can cause strangulation of the life force! :) And yeah I’ll pull through, it’s just hard in the beginning before you have a routine. And too much free time is crazy too haha. You crave it while working but once you’re on vacation or similiar you just get restless after a while, or at least that’s the case for me :D. But there has to be something to do out there, no? Seems like a perfect spot to let out some creativity!

100% agree :) A good routine is everything! Well, actually I just crave a job I really love right now so I don't really need a real vacation. ;D Well, except for farming and hunting there's not too much going on, right now I work casual at the pub and the fuel station, haha. Hopefully I get some outdoor work again at some point. I'd love to work outdoors and online 50:50, my dream. ;)

Yeah, most likely. They get the bigger creepy crawlies over in QLD too. Oh nice, she's here to stay... for a year more at least haha. Yeah true, always people to talk to, especially if you have an accent. People are always curious where you are from. I got that a bit of that in my travels in Europe. I find travelling by yourself is better, as you can just go where you want and not worry about others. Nothing big travel wise, but I plan to go to Melbourne and possibly Adelaide later in the year. Hopefully back to Europe next year and possibly Asia.

At least, yeah.. might have to look into the expensive and complicated partner visa at some point, who knows. Yes, exactly! You're just independent and in my experience also meet new people more easily, also because you kinda have to if you don't wanna be alone all the time. :D Plan on visiting those cities, too. Well, obviously they're on the way, haha.

Oh yes, I have heard about them and the troubles in getting them and best of luck if you go down that path. Exactly, so good! I've been to both cities twice, great places to visit. Adelaide is known as 'The city of churches' and Melbourne as the 'Sports capital of Australia' and they in Melbourne always get the best gigs. A lot of artists don't come to Perth, which is annoying, but I understand because of the extra travel to get here, but on the other hand, they travel heaps to get to Australia anyways, so what's an extra 3 hours flight ahaha. In saying that, there is 6+ gigs I plan to go to in the next few months here, which is quite a high amount compared to the amount I normally go to.
