VERY interesting. I need to go and read the story. There is a scene from The Sopranos when an older, retired mafia guy has to dig up some bodies because the land is being developed, and a younger mobster refers to him as Johnny Mnemonic. I think he means pneumatic, not mnemonic. I wonder if it was an intentional reference to the story in addition to being a funny malapropism.

Same here in NYC. I don't know iof they were just small print runs or if the distribution just sucked, but it was impossible to find their records and believe me I tried like crazy at the time for months to find After the Original Style or Thinking of Empire, which I think is their masterpiece. ;-)

Yeah, I love 'em! Only discovered them about a month ago, which is weird. I feel I should have found out about them much sooner. But I guess it's a good thing to find there's still great bands and artists like that out there :) Anyway, I started with Leaves Turn Inside You, liked it a lot, and now I'm working my way through their older, more energetic albums :)

Novi Sad was great! It's a really nice town, the locals were pleasent and humble, the weather was great and the view of the Danube was spectacular. Have you been or plan to visit? Exit festival was unreal, would love to go back at some point.

I heard they might be on hiatus again, but I don't want the rumors to be true! What do you think of [artist]The Chinese Stars[/artist]? I'm working on some music with a friend, it's more along the lines of alien space ambient. How about yourself?

Oh, I'm quite familiar with William Gibson's work. Big fan of Neuromancer, and of course his short story collection, Burning Chrome which had Johnny Mnemonic in it. Have you read Snow Crash before? If you're into Cyberpunk novels I think you'd enjoy it a lot! Recommendations as far as cyberpunk nerdery are more than welcome ;) Arab on Radar is one of my favorite noise rock bands! I'm so happy they got back together, hopefully they'll tour again. If you like noise rock I think you'd like [artist]Kid Commando[/artist]. Their 2003 album, "Holy Kid Commando" is absolutely mind melting. Think of them as Arab on Radar's long lost, guitar and drum tortured cousins.

For a dude named after one of the shittiest movies ever, I like your taste. Ty Segall and Marnie Stern are wonderful. Do you like [artist]Hella[/artist]?

I got into him (and a lot of other stuff from the Stones Throw label) through the Madvillain - Madvillainy album, which is already considered a classic I guess. It's a collaboration between Doom and Madlib, who must be one of the most interesting producer/beatmaker/rapper of the last decade. :o
