Thanks! Sometimes I feel my taste in music makes no sense whatsoever anymore, it's all over the place. Your library is nice as well, a bunch of familiar good stuff and things I have never heard of... which is good, because I've been trying to find new music to listen to.

Shape is indeed an amazing band. Incredibly easy music songwriting-wise but it just works so well. Angels is still my favorite release though.

I tend to prefer more complex songwriting, occupational hazard. But sometimes the simple stuff really fits well like with Angels and some folk stuff. Things are getting better here although everything in the arts is pretty weird now. How about there?

Sorry for the delay in answering. To be honest, as long as it's good I'll listen to it, regardless or whether it's complex or more simpler song writing. Things are still a bit strange here, better than they were but still a bit odd, but it's going to be like it for a long time yet I think. Have things gotten any better the past 6 weeks or so?

thank you, and likewise. It's rare to see Schnittke and Deathspell Omega on the same page.

I haven't had the chance to buy the new one yet, and actually only learned about it a few days ago. I haven't heard any of those pieces in concert either, so it should be an interesting listen when I get my hands on it.

Thanks, pretty much no pop here though. I work with classical so there's often a lot of it. Never got into Moonsorrow much for some reason, and I'll listen to some Havukruunu, I'm not familiar with them. A lot of the Quebec BM scene is pretty decent.

And your profile reminded me that I should listen to more classical music. Nice taste :)

Yeah the site is pretty dead compared to 5-6 years ago heh. I live in Scandinavia, yourself?

Yeah, I miss those days! Many of my friends left because of the design that the site adopted, did not please much. Oh, Scandinavia is very beautiful! I really appreciate the culture there. I live in South America, Brasil.

For some reason there seems to be a lot of Brasilians and Russians still using the website. I know about very few other users based in Scandinavia anymore. And yes Scandinavia can be very beautiful, but so can most places in the world, just in different ways.

I know some that keep just to do scrobble, I would like the site to have the relevance of before. That's true, there is beauty in most places! I live in a small town in São Paulo, right here there are many places that often impress me. But today there have been many disasters around here, a lot of destruction, unfortunately.

Hey! Well, it's not entirely dead. I see quite some people, who are still using last.fm :) Anyways, I see you are listening to a lot of classical music lately. Will try out some of the artists, as lately I've kind of neglected classical music, need to find some good composers and get back into it.

Compared to before, it's rather dead but yeah we're still a few on here. I tend to listen to a lot of classical when I'm at work, sometimes in the evenings as well, it just varies. My list is perhaps more relevant if you're into contemporary classical.

Happy new, musical year from the country which is located between Luxembourg and Poland, M., it's exquisite to see you are here at lastfm for over 6 years by now :-) ... What is your opinion about lastfm nowadays ( and how did you think when you joined it)? ... Also... all the best for your 60k scrobbles milestone ... How I came by here? ... lastFM shows you're at the moment 1 of my musical neighbours (fifty users are in the list): LAST dot FM/user/the_minimal/neighbours

Thanks. Classical is really a world into itself with so many composers. Send me a PM if you need specific recommendations.

Alright I've been listening to it a bit now... I just can't take it seriously at all. I don't find it compositionally interesting at all, and that it's based on a Baroque masterpiece makes me even less inclined to like it. I understand why a lot of people more into other types of music like Richter (and his ilk like Einaudi, Glass, etc) but coming from contemporary classical, his music is just incredibly bland.

That is perfectly fine as tastes are different. Richter keeps his compositions simple and melodic (as you would say ''bland'') and that is what I personally love. Listening to him while studying or as soundtrack to a movie really is something special. But if you like to sit down, drink a glass of good wine and listen with full attention to a great composition, maybe Richter is not the best choice - I would agree with you on that one.

I've heard some of his stuff and I've liked it, but again Johannsson isn't really "classical" in a way. He was a lot more experimental than Richter. Englaborn is a fantastic album but I haven't managed to buy Orphee yet. I work with an old composer friend of his though haha.

I randomly bought their newest album after hearing about them for years. What a fantastic release. I'll have to get their other albums.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to order their earlier albums. It seems like Cuneiform is the best place to order, but shipping to Europe does get a bit expensive!

I find that most stuff in avant-garde and contemporary music is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it to support the artists really.
