Chamomile Nights from Stash Tea is smooth as fuck with added honey. Just throwing that out there. Relaxing and delicious, really helps soothe my continuous migraine from the endless lockdowns and restrictions imposed by our slavemas- I mean, respective governments. Peace ahch, hope all is well with you.

Hey, just saw your comment about how you didn't understand the meaning of "O tríplice mistério do stop" from that Novos Baianos song. The literal translation of it would be "the triple mystery of stop"; "triple" stands for "to be born, to grow up and to die", the three main stages of life for him, with "stop" being the end of life, the death. Hope it helps! :)

It's a pleasure to be talking with you. Os Originais do Samba is a long career success group, his formation was at Escolas de Samba (free translation: samba school) from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. However, a lot of good musicians passed by the group, recording a lot of hits since 60's. Today, Os Originais got a immeasurable respect in samba history and plays small concerts but always with a good support and attendance. I think that they are so good because his homeland always was escolas de samba. Thank you for the message, dude. I'm sorry for my english.

What about mexican music. I think I've only heard of a group called Rodrigo y Gabriela and once I listened to a 1950 album by Trio Aguilillos. What would you recommend?

But of course, I think everyone knows who Chico Buarque is. That man is almost deemed the god of brazilian music here, the pedestal of good taste and I think that's a bit unjust. the MPB artist are surely more widely famous - Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Elis Regina, Gilberto Gil are very much recognized. The old samba artists we like are a little less recognizable I suppose, of course they're very well known but they are less played on the radio and more played in "rodas de samba". and of course Cartola, Paulinho da Viola, Adoniran Barbosa, Bezerra da SIlva, Noel Rosa, Martinho da Vila are some of the first names that come to mind.

Well, I guess you can presume the average brazilian nowadays listens to very few of the the pre-1980s artists you mention. Normally if you ask someone what is brazilian music about they'll name a vast number of mass media artists and genres such as Sertanejo Universitário and what not.

Quanto aos Originais do Samba, sim, eles são relativamente conhecidos. Principalmente por causa do Mussum, que depois ficou famoso como comediante. Não é a primeira coisa que surge na mente do brasileiro quando se fala em música brasileira.

And what have you listened by Juçara e Kiko? What's exactly "cumbiero" haha? Don't know if that's exactly what you like but here's a few excerpts of what i find the best by the artists I mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zODbiRuHpsQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEtzUtNNtzg

I'm listening to Ed Lincoln. Had no trouble finding those 2 records on soulseek. I'm particularly intrigued with the fact he was born in my hometown but I've never even heard someone mention him.

Honestly it's the first time I hear his name. Haha. Never heard anyone speak about him at all. Maybe you know more brazilian music than me. What do you recommend by him?

What do you mean pre-1900s? did you mean pre-1990s? Yes I'm from Brazil. Have you listened to Metá Metá or Juçara Marçal? I think the 2010s have been particularly great in the developing of "vanguarda music", especially in São Paulo.

I suppose you're Italian. It seems you listen to a lot of brazilian music. Why's that? Haha. Btw "el espíritu de la colmena" is a terrific film

Hi. I think Cartola is probably the greatest sambista of the past century. To me he embodies all the essence of what samba is about. Also his two first records are some of the most magnificent, unique and well-arranged pieces of brazilian music. I also have a big crush on Adoniran, he sounds simpler and somehow more naive, yet he was a fabulous lyricist and a genuine artist. He looks like a comic book character.
