I didn't know I was influential! I appreciate that. New Wave was my first love, and I never spent too much time delving into the obscure. I'm going to have to check out out what I've been missing. I owe you one for turning me onto Suburban Lawns. What an absolutely brilliant band.

Did you watch the The Kingdom: Exodus? I just finished it a few days ago. I think it's my favorite season. :)

Speaking of bad press, you are so right, it's the old 'divide et impera' and it seems to me, the ultimate one. This time the cut goes right through 1. family, friendship, marriage: one member believes them, the other doesn't and 2. the human himself/herself: artificiality vs nature. It's a war on human consciousness and the majority is unconscious of it. (I was on the page of "Rage against the machine', here, on our site, laughing and got inspired to send you a shout about the fake rage, fake middle finger) You know, we might be asked very soon to delete our shouts anyway, by an AI, global Goebbels (Gloebbels), the Orwellian ministry of "truth". :)

Hey friend! I have to explain myself, I just presumed you were Danish, so at the end of my shout I used the legendary expression from 'Riget' but inserted my own ethnicity (Serbian) instead of Dansk, but later I regretted it and that's the whole story. No need to burden you with it (ethnicity) or make you uncomfortable, considering the bad press we're getting since 1989. (I wish there was an edit option) (I delete shouts I don't jive with any more)

Those magnificent Bill Hicks plays! Can you imagine his reaction to the last 14 months? I remember him saying to the audience, something along these lines: "you don't see the imminent danger, do you?" or "you still have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?" and since he's been gone there have been almost 3 more decades of dumbing down... No wonder we are where we are at this point in history. Just passing by and ranting, take care :)

I feel you. To be fair, I think DFD is way worse since Todd started using a lot of filters on the vocals and when he stopped growling. And then the remakes of those old song sound so bad without that aggression. Except for some slow songs which are cooler, like siddhis for example. Although I am super glad they did remake erotic massage, first one had really awful production. I can't wait to hear Pdot's Purgatory rerecording in full, although I probably won't be filled with joy. BMTHOAW sounds weaker than the original, but phantom limb rerecording is nice. I see that you are crazy for TR as well although you mostly did listen to albums which I don't really like (Filter and Handshakes)

Happy 2019 from very chilly Germany, Nikolaj, I see you are here at lastfm for >9 years by now :-) ... Recalling over all those years: how did your "musical exploration" progress ? ... Also... all the best for your imminent **268888 scrobbles, and "950 artists scrobbled" milestones** ... How I came by your lastFM profile? ... lastFM showed you're currently 1 of my musical neighbours (in the list are about fifty users): last dot fm/user/experimental_EY/neighbours

No problem! Yeah, you never know. I used to feel the same way but after seeing some of his movies that didn't feature the nebbish character I came to really appreciate his work, to the point where I've now seen all his movies other than the ones he's released in the past few years. Hope you find something to like in that selection!

I have a long-standing love-hate relationship with Eno. I find it hard to get into his ambient stuff, but his other albums are some of the best. Fripp's solo on Baby's On Fire is in my top five of all time without question. Looks like I'm going to have to give Wall of Voodoo some more attention, as well as give stuff like Tuxedomoon and Snakefinger another chance.

Excellent! The news of new Tub Ring is like early Christmas. Hopefully they haven't slouched in the last 7 years. I also heard SOAD is working on a new album too. Lot of pressure on that one. I found FNM's Sol Invictus a bit underwhelming. You popping up again reminded me too that I still haven't gotten around to El-Creepo's Bellissimo! yet. I gotta get on it.

That's awesome! My favorite comedy show I've ever been to was Stanhope in Madison, WI. Someone bought him a huge shot of brandy or something, he proceeded to try it, make a weird face and say "ooo, that's a sippin' drink"... he then threw it back and just kept going. Got a picture with him afterwards.

I know what you mean. Their material (both bands') is just kind of slight variations on the same sound, but they're great sounds so it works. Clutch and NMN are both amazing live, too. Re: Zappa, I have most of the stuff I like best tagged "The Mothers of Invention," but Last has some kind of issue scrobbling The Mothers of Invention properly. Something about a "non-Latin character" or something, so I have played some stuff but I don't think it's scrobbled at all. I'm really not overly familiar with Zappa though, believe it or not. Which albums would you recommend as his best? Which are the "proggiest?"

Oh man, I envy your being able to experience all the great Crimson stuff for the first time. They're my favorite band of all time; despite all the lineup changes and different styles they've remained consistently excellent in my opinion. I'd start with ItCotCK as you have and also snag Red and Discipline, which are considered to be their three best by most (my personal favorites are Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, Lizard and THRAK; then there's a whole wealth of live stuff to dig into) and are also accessible and representative of three distinct eras. Let me know what you think of their stuff or if you need any recommendations. I liked the FNM album too. My only criticism really would be that they didn't really forge any new ground, but I was happy just to have new material and a new tour. Clutch is awesome live! Which of their stuff do you like best?

Yeah, I hate when people send you a friend request, you add them and then they never say anything. What's the point? Neu! is awesome. I really love their first record although as you said all three from the seventies are terrific. Faust is my favorite of the bunch, too. The music they produced and the circumstances under which they got their albums made and released are just awesomely bizarre -- never again will a major label fund such patently strange and unorthodox artists to record such challenging material. Every one of their first four albums is amazing to me. Can is great too. Their skill at improvisation is on par with King Crimson's at the top of the realm of Rock, IMO. And Jaki has to be one of the absolute best drummers to ever pick up a pair of sticks. His work on "Halleluwah" defies description or belief. I see you're a Faith No More fan -- what'd you make of the new LP?

Thanks for the add. Looks like you've got really eclectic taste. You seem to be pretty into "Krautrock." I've been snapping up various recordings from that scene for the past several months. The creativity and innovation of that period is just staggering. Faust, Neu!, Cluster, Kraftwerk, Amon Duul (II)... just killer music.
