importance of the album as a creative medium, even though it is becoming less prevalent in the world of playlists and shuffle. I have to say the thought of a music player where I don't know what the next song will be and have no control of it is a little distressing. Sure I play on random a lot, BUT, there's also times when I want to hear an album. And I think too it's respectful to the artist to, at least some of the time, take in their whole work as they intended. I always liken it to say, looking at a Kandinsky with an eye patch on. Sure you might see a bunch of lines and some of them may be beautiful colours, but, it's not until you can appraise the whole positioning as the artist intended that you can truly appreciate its meaning. Maybe that's a romantic way to look at the album, but I really believe that musicians that are in it for the art, rather than the money, create an album with that in mind; it's a snapshot of their life at that point, whatever form that might take.

Of course you'd know it by venue name! :) I haven't got the one from the previous night's show; I'll definitely have to track it down though as it must be impressive to beat that Vic Theatre gig! Kingpin would be amazing! I have to admit that I used to be one of those people who, when pressed for their favourite {anything} would end up not actually saying anything with a bunch of caveats and ums and ars. Namely because at that time I didn't really understand what my pensiveness was in regards to committing to a favourite. But as I understood more that especially with music, it's very much a matter of circumstance and I can reserve the right to change my mind as circumstance dictates (both changes in myself and appreciation for music). It then became less critical that to announce that something was my favourite, because it didn't have to be forever. It says something for the strength of an artist when their songs are so individually strong, but I also still firmly believe in

sublime and it's as though each listen reveals a new layer of both subtlety and complexity. Equally, the sprawl of Being There is very addictive right now as well. I have a real soft spot for A.M. because it's such a vibrant album. I only realised yesterday that I haven't listened to A Ghost Is Born in quite too long and I know as soon as I do I'll swoon for it again. And in all of my rambling I haven't even mentioned Summerteeth which contains for some of the finest melodic pop sensibilities in music, ever. Jay Bennett was a genius. So, in conclusion, right now, it's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Six months ago it was A.M. Six months from now, who knows? But I think good music is adaptive and dynamic in as much as our lives are and therefore each album can take on numerous guises as circumstances and understanding change. I guess that's what keeps us coming back!

I didn't realise the whole band had them! But now I think of it maybe I did see a photo of lanky Nels in one. I know it was a pretty awful question for the dedicated fan. But I liked your answer. The bit about the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot demos (which totally count and could also be called 'Loose Fur' by Loose Fur - ha!) made me think of this bootleg I have of a Tweedy solo show. It's a charity gig for his children's school and anyway after one of the crowd shouts out he starts mocking them about how they 'only like songs from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot demos' and later on he's playing a song from A Ghost Is Born and he says 'I don't remember how it goes from the record but I do remember it from the Ghost Is Born Demos'. The man is so very funny. As for me, a favourite album is always a transient thing and there's a fair chance in six months time it will shift again. I'm really loving on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot at the moment; the atmosphere and spaces in between on that album are just so

I am indeed! Please don't hold that against me...oh wait, you're from Perth as well! :) I wish I owned the suit Tweedy's wearing in that photo on the right. I figured you would have to have come across that video, but it's too good not to share. Favourite Wilco album? (sorry if that's too much of a loaded question; you're allowed to pass!)
