Absolutely. They have some of the best songs to sing along to and they do the who psychedelic thing perfectly. I started listening to this band in 2012 and literally have just listened to most of their discography within the last month or so. There's still some stuff I haven't listened to yet though.

The way I've always viewed it was that Animal Collective has a "big four" as far as their releases go (Feels, Strawberry Jam, Sung Tongs and MPP), and then there's everything else. All of their EPs and albums pre-2005 (excluding Sung Tongs) have gone completely unnoticed by most fans for reasons that are beyond my comprehension. I have never disliked anything that this band has released, but all of their really good stuff is in the "everything else" category. I can't really say that everything prior to Feels is their best stuff since most of my favorite releases were from 2006 to 2009 (People, Strawberry Jam, Water Curses, Fall Be Kind), but I absolutely agree with you that they really should try to go back to that lo-fi and noisy sound that Danse Manatee and Spirit They've Gone brought. They're supposed to be releasing something this year and my assumptions are that it's going to be poppy like MPP. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

A lot of people consider AnCo to be an acquired taste, but I feel like Here Comes the Indian takes that saying to an even more extreme considering how left-field it is even compared to most of the stuff they've released. It's easily their least accessible, mainly because it's really noisy and experimental on top of the fact that it's instrumental for the most part. That being said though, I really began to enjoy it after listening to it over maybe three or four times. Hey Light and Infant Dressing Table are absolutely stellar tracks, and the rest that support it are solid as well.
