Hypno5e's earlier stuff is also insanely good! It'd be great if they come to Russia one day, I'd love to see them live. What new bands did you discover in 2016? I did listen to Anciient's new album, but I guess I need some more spins, because I havent actually dug it yet. "Heart of Oak" is very solid, and yes, it reminds me of Mastodon :)

Even though I have almost 14k artists in my library, my top of 2016 is pretty mainstream, I'd say. Top 1 definitely goes to Hypno5e's album which filled in the place left vacant by BTBAM and Ne Obliviscaris since they released nothing that year. A tremendous album I would recommend anyone to listen to. I also enjoyed the albums of Korn, In Flames, Die Antwoord, the Qemists, RHCP, TDEP, Caliban, Green Day, AAL and other less known bands, mostly alternative metal ones. Overall, it was a bleak year for me, especially in comparison with the previous three years.

Totally agree with you. Mastodon is the thing. As I know, the new album is gonna consiste of two discs which makes it even more hyped for me ))

Thanks! Great charts as well! We got a lot of bands in common. Feeling any hype about new Mastodon's record? Im hoping it will be as awesome as Once More 'Round the Sun.

Patient 0 is much better: nice lows & highs, groovy guitar attacks, Shallow Breath is probably one of my favourite songs in the genre, really catchy stuff. Knocked Loose - heard about them, but don't know what to expect, what are they playing ? By the way, new Carnifex record is leaked, hope you'll like it)

Well, you won't be dissapointed, that's for sure, their ex-vocalist, Mark Poida is in Aversions Crown now, i think that's gonna be a cool record. Listened new Cane Hill album, it's good, but wasn't impressed too much like it was with an EP, but still solid, gonna listen more. Can also recommend Enterprise Earth, Joel Omans from Rings Of Saturn joined them recently so i'm interested that they gonna put out.

I listened Magma for 10 times and i'm definitely sure what i feel. Like you said, i think it's my least favourite record, i guess The Link is more enjoyable, From Mars To Sirius is still their best album for me. Yeah, heard about Reflections, listened a few tracks and it's definitely progressive metalcore, not deathcore. They sound pretty similar to Structures, and Structures are sick as hell, one day i'll check them out) By the way, forgot about new I, Valiance record that they also gonna put out this year - if you didn't heard their EP The Reject Of Humanity (2015) check it out - one the best deathcore releases i've heard.

Yeah, Magma is good, but i expected more actually, and like they said the sound is simpler on this album. The songs less technical, there's more chugging riffs, maybe it's less melodic, but still a solid album. The releases that i'm waiting for is mostly deathcore stuff, here it is: A Night In Texas, Lorna Shore, Carnifex, Aversions Crown, Rings Of Saturn, Betraying The Martyrs, Enterprise Earth, Split record (Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Fit For An Autopsy), For The Fallen Dreams, Impending Doom, KoЯn, Love & Death, Martyr Defiled, Meshuggah, Metallica (lol), Norma Jean, Slaughter To Prevail, Suicide Silence (i guess, i didn't liked their last album at all), Acacia Strain, The Amity Affliction, The Devil Wears Prada, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Traitors, Volumes, Walking Dead On Broadway, Within The Ruins. That's it, i think :D

The record is actually really solid, i think it's good old despised icon with some hardcore influence and it's kinda sucks that there's just 8 full tracks & 2 absolutely unnecessary interludes, i don't know why they added it, so the CD as a whole is very short. The Ills Of Modern Man is their best album for me. I've seen you listening new periphery album recently, what can you say about it ?
