Toby Driver has his pretty much whole discography on bandcamp for $9 subscription. Includes a whole bunch of demos from MotW to Kayo Dot to other projects and a whole bunch of live albums, as well as all the studio albums.

Devin just released Puzzles and Snuggles today, that are both great ambient albums, while Aquilus released the new album as well today, it's pretty solid as well!

Obsequiae is super fun as well. The new Aquilus album will be out on the 3rd and the 2 singles out right now are pretty damn awesome. Griseus is an absolute masterpiece if you have never heard it

oh lots of veilburner scrobbles here. glad you like it^^. your to-checkout-list seems long now. would you mind if i add some more to it? have a look at Eloge De l'Ombre by creature, and Vertebra Atlantis. perhaps also new Plebeian Grandstand, which reminds me a bit dodecahedron.

I shall check them out. I think you might like Skaur and Lucid Planet. Ones black metal and the other is prog metal.

I tend to hear the releases a bit late, so I'll probably get to know the ones from '21 next year hehe But some I liked a lot were Deafheaven's 'Infinite Granite', Year of No Light's 'Consolamentum', Emma Ruth Rundle's 'Engine of Hell', Insomnium's 'Argent Moon' EP, Mastodon's 'Hushed and Grim', VOLA's 'Witness', Spiritbox's 'Eternal Blue' and Tribulation's 'Where the Gloom Becomes Sound'. I guess these are the ones I heard most, so nothing too dark nor obscure :P. I also enjoyed Amenra's 'De Doorn', but maybe I had too many expectations. You've mentioned Marina, I don't hear anything from her a while, I'll check the new stuff. I also enjoyed Perturbator's new album, and both King's you've mentioned, Woman and Buffalo. There isn't the full album yet, but there's a Finnish band called Sara that I'm quite enjoying the singles from this year, next album may be promising.

Hey! I ended up not giving you a feedback from what you've recommended me. I think Fields of Locust is too obscure as I didn't find it on Spotify hehe, at least not available here in my country. Sun of Nothing, there's only one album available there (from '07), quite obscure indeed, only 24 listeners. Now, Altin Gün was quite interesting, I'll definitely listen more. Thermohaline may be a tad avant garde for me right now, I might have to give it another try. Do you have a top 5 of 2021 albums already?

Hey Dude, just got a first day off from work after coming back. I'll definitely have to check it out when I have just a little bit more time. Fighting Health insurance and ex landlords in court over their incompetence for 1 and lies for the other. Montana was awesome. I also got a huge vinyl pick up over there and I'm just waiting on 1 more to come on now. Picked up Between the Buried and Me - Coma Ecliptic, Enslaved - In Times, Imperial Triumphant - Alphaville, Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (Seen it loads of times, finally saw it for an affordable price.) Ulver - Kveldssanger, Candlemass - Ancient Dreams and Mare Cognitum - Solar Paroxysm. It definitely beat my pull from June from Santa Cruz, which was still really good.

it seems Greece will be the model for the west, or at least more leftists western countries and states. Does Greece have any chance of recovering, or have the politics just devolved to a point to where its unsalvageable? I guess we will find out this decade. It sounds like you guys have corporatism and not capitalism, which has what the leftist's have been trying to push for over 30 years, which technically is fascism or possibly more based on the late soviet or modern chinese model. The radio show sounds awesome though. is it on spotify or do you have your own website for it? Theres no bad genres, but theres definitely some awful sub genres like crunk, trap or just top 40/billboard pop styles, but even then theres always an exception.

do not confuse corporatism with the mixed economy. the Mediterranean peoples do not tolerate that a few Bezos, Soros etc control the economy to the detriment of small entrepreneurs linked to the local economy and who create real wealth. the Bezos economy only enriches Wall Street, but it makes a scorching earth in the "colonized" countries.

Damn... I was right about my comparisons then. Thats all starting to happen in California. Small businesses are starting to be driven out by state and corporate interests and then being called some kind of ist's or phobes or far right something or whatever. This is mostly just happening in leftist states like California or New York. Fires for over 6 years, etc. The US is starting to fall apart because of far leftism. though I have no idea on how its going to affect us 5-10 years from now. Will we fracture or split? Civil War? One thing i know for sure is California in 5-10 years will be nothing but the super rich, probably mostly consisting of Chinese Communists or globalists who will have the ability to vote in our elections due to California laws and then there essentially illegal alien slaves coming from Mexico, South America and now Africa apparently who will be so severely underpaid, they might as well be considered slaves. Born and raised here and I'll be leaving soon. It's scary

i hope your short sotry does well. Where are you going to sell it? I still need to dig deeper into them myself, but it was definitely a fun listen. Dune is looking very good. I'm only worried that they won't be able to do the whole series, as shit really starts getting crazy at Children of Dune and onward. I really want to see Chapterhouse Dune in all of its glory, but I doubt thats ever going to happen. I'm hoping the Foundation tv series will be great, as well. Is the radio show a metal show or is it just more of a podcast? No job is definitely rough. I've been the exact opposite working my ass off with 2 jobs, since we gotta pay off debt and then save up money to get the hell out of commiefornia in the next few years. Are jobs disappearing over in Greece. I know your economy has been a shitshow for the last 2 decades, but is it really starting to get bad with the job market now?

Hey man, thanks for the rec. I'll be checking it out and expanding upon it. have ya had a chance to check out Heilung? I finally got around to and my god, they are fantastic. They are probably the heaviest folk band I've heard, as it's folk music for metalheads. They are very fun. Howve ya been? Finally finished The Expanse. That was a fantastic SciFi rec! i also ordered the whole book series and I'll be starting it soon. My girl and I also started Babylon 5 and I wasn't expecting much, simply due to age and knowing how cheesy some 90s shows can be, but it's very good. Watching it now, I see that Mass Effect did some very, very heavy handed copying and pasting from Babylon 5. I'd definitely recommend it.

Finally finished Farscape again and got to check out The Expanse last night. It’s fantastic. It reminds me of a mix of Battlestar Galactica and Asimov’s Foundation series. I’ve never seen Hard Sci-fi made for a wider audience and it is fucking awesome. Thanks for the rec, m8.

If you love HHGTTG, then Farscape will definitely be for you. It has that zany type of humor and doesn't take itself seriously all the time, so a lot of the episodes past season 1 really go off the walls and even today still have some unique moments you don't expect. I was gonna buy Season 1 of Expanse on Amazon, but accidentally bought season 1 of Babylon 5, so when we eventually finish Farscape, I'll let you know if its worth getting into. Maybe we will do 1 season of B5 and 1 of the expanse and just criss cross, who knows! Moura-S/T might be Pysch Rock thats up your alley. I'm liking it so far. Neptunian Maximalism is coming out with a new album at the end of the month. I'm FUCKING EXCITED! Have you ever checked out Ne Obliviscaris? It's Prog black/death with jazz, classical, flamenco and blues influence. Portal of I is absolutely stellar, if ya haven;t checked it out. Skaur--Nordnorsk Svartmetall might be up your alley as well. Think Windir, with the intnse raw vocals like Sorgelig

Pretty damn amazing. When you said Avant-Black I thought this might be a difficult listen but nope. Surprisingly graspable, even on the first listen. Great songwriting and -dynamics, too. Coming straight off two days of Roadburn catch-up this was a nice addition, thanks!

Hey! I have to listen to the Neptunian Maximalism album again. In the end I couldn't watch their gig, hopefully someone will upload it on YT, if it's not already there. I may have a big library but I end up hearing same stuff :D From the Roadburn Redux, another band I liked the performance a lot was Of Blood and Mercury. As I can see Carpenter Brut in your charts, you might enjoy it, if you don't already. Thanks for the recommendations, they all seem quite interesting by your description! I'll let you know about it :) See ya :)

character development while the end of season 1 and beginning of season 2 really setup an excellent story. The original british tv show version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is also really good as well. Battlestar Galactica 2004 and Caprica are fantastic, if you have never jumped into the BSG universe.

In the US, we had ultra conservative christian aspects in our lives, now its gone and the far left is pushing for islam in some aspects, weird cult like behaviors in these political groups that almost act like pseudo-religious cults. It's been getting bad. New conservative groups end up being classically liberal to libertarian. Greece has a very rich history. The world be very different without Greeces Republic. Organized religion does need to die. Sadly it will always be upheld by the easily manipulated, emotional masses that refuse to critically think. Oooo, I'll be checking it out. I still have yet to see the Expanse. Right now I'm rewatching Farscape with my girlfriend. I haven't seen it in a decade and hot damn is it still one of the absolute best Sci Fi's of all time. Actually rewatching the whole series again is making me appreciate it even more. Sounds like you're big into Dystopian Sci Fi. I wholeheartedly recommend Garscape if you have never seen it. Season 1 is mostly just

If that ever happens, it will definitely be awhile from now. So who knows. Getting back into a hopeful outlook is not easy, that is for sure. Thankfully my girlfriend does her best with it, so she does help. Every day is a struggle though. Wow, those are beautiful guitars! Sounds familiar. I'm a huge scifi nerd myself, but do love some top tier fantasy as well. I would love to try D&D. Just a time thing for the most part though. I would've gotten into it as a kid, but my questions were weirdly super christian and prudish, despite not being that way now. It's weird. I'm starting to do some market research for a company idea i have. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to do that and I need to more. But thats only a dream because we have to make money to survive. But if I somehow become a billionaire, I'd love to give Elon Musk a run for his money for space tech. Dude that would be awesome. Keep writing when you have inspiration. I believe in ya mate.

Oh, thank you! Your charts are great too! I wouldn't mind some recommendations either :), I'm also not strict to any genres, although lately I'm listening more doom/death/post-metal I guess. Are you checking Roadburn festival online? If not, I would recommend taking a look at roadburnredux.com. From the bands I saw, I liked Kairon; IRSE!, The Ocean, Inter Arma, The Nest and Steve von Till gigs. Still have to check some more, so maybe these would be my recommendations for now :D

Unfortunately for now, it's a thing of the past. Working 2 jobs doesn't allow for much free time. Though I would absolutely relish the chance to start choir and waterpolo up at one of the local JC's again. I need to get a pitch pipe so I can start practicing the guitar again. It's so damn out of tune. I probably also need to stop smokin weed so my voice would sound better again. I'd love to write and record some music too when I have the time and money for it, even if its just for fun.

2 year time period. SGM funny enough, started it all for me too. I still need to really immerse myself in Zorns work. I've listened to Naked City a few times, but just kept forgetting about it, or not in the mood or something. Theres also still a lot of Zappas work that I need to become familiar with as well. I haven't given his discography the same love and attention that I gave to Hevy Devy's and shit I still need to listen to Punky Bruster and the ambient albums more. I think some of them have different musical projects going right now, so I'm sure they are still doing shows around the bay area. It just sucks to go to the bay area rn, our homeless get their heroin and crack from the government, so they're really aggressive towards people and just straight up break into cars to just sleep in em now. So I don't really go over there now, plus its all crazy over priced anyway now. Though I will have to brave it once shows start up again cuz damn a show would be great now.

Theres definitely some reviewers I like more, but they do have a tendency to 2.0-3.0 a lot of really great albums that take more than 1-2 listens to get into or if the album is "too long" for them. Sometimes the comment section can be a good indicator of albums that are good in that range, but sometimes you just gotta be old school and go by album cover. Ne Obliviscaris for example tends to score pretty low on AMG, but they're one of the absolute best in prog black metal. I discovered SGM around 06. I was just starting to get into Metal past Linkin Park and Metallica at that point and they blew my mind, scared the fuck outa me and just left one hell of an imprint. I actually came back to em about a year later and fell in love. Once I had finally gotten rid of the subconscious religious fear, after i consciously cast aside Christianity 2 years before, I still had subconscious fears that I'd go to hell. Once that was gone I fell in love, then got into death metal, then black in the next

Also to answer your question about choirs. In High School I was in one of the top chamber and concert choirs in California. We even competed with the top universities in California as well and we also got asked to sing all over France my senior year. From Mont La Salle to Notre Dame to Versailles palace to Private Chateaus. I'm a huge fan of chamber, opera, romantic era classical in general, but I do like the gospel style, just not the mainstream shit. I'm always a sucker when metal adds in choral elements properly and well.

The dude has a decent sounding voice, hearing someones vocal chords actually grate together is just.. uncomfortable. I absolutely loved everything I heard except for that aspect. Give the man some vocal lessons! I got some more spacey black metal for ya. Ætheria Conscientia - Corrupted Pillars of Vanity. I've also become quite obsessed with Hail Spirit Noir. Listening to them is like listening to Opeth and Enslaved right when they clicked. Have you ever heard of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum? They're a local band for me, an hour away in Oakland. They're from the same town as Neurosis. They're one of the best Avant Garde Metal bands. I'm still so mad that I went to class instead of seeing one of their last concerts... A lot of the recs you have given me I've had from AMG, so I assume you read em. Have you had the chance to check out Les Chants Du Hasard yet? It's Opera with black metal vocals and its pretty fuckin glorious

Finally got around to Aenean, Sorgelig and Mystras. I'm liking all 3 of em, but Mystras is definitely the weakest. Its a decent raw black metal album with synths, nothing really stood out, but it was a fun listen. Maybe itll grow on me. Aenean is pretty good too, though the dude screaming and growling from his throat and not his stomach bothers me more than it probably should, especially since thats how a lot of people do it anyway, but the clean producution made it hard to listen to because I could hear his throat straining, but I really enjoyed the band. Sorgelig is also really fuckin good. The vocalist is crazy, his screams are like the exact opposite of Aenean. They're powerful, intense and just flat out impressive. The riffs are super tight, the production isn't tinny, despite it being raw. I'll be checking out the rest of their stuff too. I love that even the non melodic bm from Greece has a great emphasis on memorable melodies and harmonies in the riff. A litle hook always helps
