Unless you're Tarantino. Then you borrow from every era of cinema possible (though his most obvious adaptations are from kung-fu and blaxploitation cinema). Oh, and if you think early cinema didn't have explosions, take a gander at The Great Train Robbery. It was made in 1903 and still managed to pull off an explosion in its 12 minute running time.

I guess I can understand that. I'm waiting for this retro and screen adaptation cycle to pass, personally. While I might agree about the relative video quality, I disagree about the directorial style. From the 40s-70s, there was Hitchcock, one of the most emulated directors in American cinema. Kurosawa, too. Most post-modern directors borrow from 40-50s directorial style.

I think awhile ago you mentioned, in response to my observation, that while you certainly do love the music of the nineties, it was the cinema that was peerless (hopefully I got that right, I kind of drug my feet in writing this response). I disagree. The 40s-50s era of Film Noir far surpasses that of the 90s. Additionally, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, while not a film noir, came out in 1986.

Furi Kuri or Fooly Cooly or FLCL are all correct spellings (well, maybe not correct, but are the three most common) of the series.

Bwargh, my superiority in tracks played is equivalent to my superiority in both geekness and all other things. But, really, I wanted to say that you have quite an awesome start of a musical profile here and do encourage similar listening. Oh, yes, and have you heard Atom and His Package? Seems like the kind of band/artist you'd be into. And now I'm off to randomly assail another shoutbox. TTFN.
