lol Yeah it is a bit crazy and goofy. And I don't like that "ugly" sounding rapper who sounds like he is rapping and cursing or using some other inappropriate language. The rest of the music is okay, kinda fun and catchy but not one of my favorite Nu Virgos tracks. Urgh, Aqua, one of the worst pop groups ever. So tasteless and crass. The female singer has a cute voice but absolute "NO"! Was hard to listen and watch the video that you linked..had to stop it after like 20 seconds. lol I like how though one of my favorite pop artists "Victoria Silvstedt", has this one song on her album that sounds a lot like a Aqua song, but way better! :-D

Yeah you're right, I usually do. :-D lol Actually their a Ukrainian girl group, and there were "three" singers" in that line from the song that I shared with you, not 2. Although when Nu Virgos first started, they were a 2 singer duo. Like in this cool track called Я не вернусь. Very James bond-ish. :-)) I love the two singers here, the founding group members. Especially the blonde! Which I just discovered has like three pop/rock solo albums! The singer in tATu has a nice voice but something still sounds kind of empty to me in that song. I'm not sure if I will end up liking TATu later when I check them out, but I could still possibly end up liking them. The female singer in TATu "is" in the vein of the type of female singers that I usually like.

Hey I'd love to share with you a great song by the new artist/girl group that I'm into now. I'd like to hear your opinion about it. Their a vocal group from the Ukraine who mostly sing in Russian but they did release two albums in English, including on one of their English albums, this great tune called L.M.L. (lucky my lunacy). I find the lyrical content to be very well written for a pop group, which I really like and I love the cool production styles and the vocalists. Especially in the last line up in 2007, from which this song is from. Their music videos are always very well produced and look really amazing too.

Sorry about my comment, which I only realized after posting sounded a little over the top and rude. Actually IWBOCD isn't that bad of a song. It's just one that doesn't really appeal to me and I must have not been in the mood to hear it a few day's ago when I first read your shout. By "twee" do you mean "too poppy"? :-D Yeah Storm trooper did appear on a GaryNuman all covers album. I first heard it on the Contenitel St Etienne comp though. I love that cover! imo all of St Etienne's cover songs are always excellent and even surpass the originals easily. Although you'd perhaps disagree on their Gary Numan cover.

Did you ever think about participating in song contest where you get to submit one of your own songs and vote on others songs? It can be a lot of fun, even if you don't win. I came in 22nd place with my all time favorite song, Shoot out the lights by Saint Etienne, in the last round of the last fm song contest. And I just discovered that the Popjustice forum has their own "song contest game! I think I want to join. :-)) One of my recent Xmas songs that I have really enjoyed was by one of my favorite Belgian pop artist's Laura Omloop. So beautiful!!

Hey, nice to read a shout from you again! How are you my friend? Ugh, you had to pick like the "only" St Etienne tune that I could perhaps do without. It kinda sounds like a train wreck actually. :-x For a St Etienne tune with a more cool dark vibe/sound, I think you'd like "Stormtrooper In Drag! One of my favorites. For their Xmas songs, my personal favorite would have to be "Gonna have a party. I know, there's auto tune on this one but I actually love the effect when used right, like in this song. Which is just a magical song imo by the group. And for my favorite St Etienne Xmas instrumental - "Fireside favorite" ..which is not on Youtube. :-o It was on their Christmas album. "A glimpse of stocking".

That's why I was thinking that it's a good time to go back and brush up on a few of my favorite 80's bands like The Thompson Twins, Talk Talk, General Public and sort of The Fixx. At the moment I'm kinda overwelmed by how much albums that The Thompson Twins have to get into and how damn good that their music is. It's a bit odd how I find that two of my potentially favorite Thompson Twins albums are their somewhat raw, new wave, post-punk debut "A product of..." and their vastly different and super cheesy 1989 obscure "Big Trash", when Joe Leeaway had long since left the duo since right after Here's to future day's" in 1985. What was Wilde's first single on Catch as catch can? "Love blonde"? Their was one on CACC that was always kind of hard to digest..lol #2

Thanks, I'm glad you liked my 80's pop playlist. I just picked a few easy favorites from Wilde off the top of my head, though I don't recall that they were singles so yeah more obscure ones, naturally. I have mixed feelings about The Bangles actually; I only like a few of their songs but I probably couldn't get through a whole album. Their music is kinda cheesy though so I can see why they wouldn't appeal to your ears. I actually just kinda slapped together that 80 playlist and tried to just think of whatever first came to my mind, as I'm a little rusty on my 80 pop at the moment..though I certainly have more than enough to make for a more solid set of 80's tracks, if I could only remember which one's that they were. #1

I have made a few playlists on Youtube recently here..one called "Great 80's pop songs" that you might like and "Happy joyful pop mix 1 & 2". I made them for one of my new last fm friends. Yeah we sure do have very different music taste but I think it's cool that we can still both appreciate some of the same artists like The Thompson Twins, Propaganda, Sarah Nixey, A-ha and Talk Talk. And there's probably more. What's been really opposed for a while is our moods for what we have been listening to, especially mine. However, it's still always a pleasure to talk with you and get to hear your interesting and intellectual views on things. :-) I've actually been thinking about Here's to future day's recently as it's a TT album that I like a lot. Emperor's clothes and roll over are in fact two of my favs from that album! Strange, Into the gap seems to me about the same duration as the other TT albums. #3

That's cool..yeah I sometimes discover new great talents from music blogs as well. Are you still enjoying being on that UKmusic forum? UKMix I think it's called. Do you ever find a new artist that you really like from UKMix? I still haven't found a cool music forum that suits my taste yet. I guess perhaps there isn't one that exists for me, as I'm always disappointed with the one's that I do check out, which all seem to be about the same. :-/ As a general rule, I don't scrobble (or keep) any of my "one hit wonder (scrobble) artists" that I only like a song or two from in my library because I don't like clutter. With that said, I still have that one song on my mind from Mel anie C, What if that were me. I've been thinking about making a fun one song loved by artists that I'm not a fan of playlist, as I probably have collected several on my list by now. #2

Yeah Rdio does have a fairly good similar artist recommendation service. I've already discovered a few great artists from their service like Amy Diamond and Bosson. (of most recent) Of course Last fm's own recommended similar artist's tool is always pretty helpful as well. Have you ever discovered a new exciting artist from one of your neighbors or last fm friends profiles? I have. Indeed we still have to do some pretty good digging to discover new great artists sometimes. I've gotten really good at this, as I have a lot of patience and a good sense of what to look for (and where) for my kind of pop artists. Sometimes, even while I'm googling for info on one of my artists on Google images, a new fantastic artist will pop up out of nowhere and I'll be so excited! I just love that feeling of knowing that you're probably going to love a new artist that you just discovered.

By the way, two of my favorite bands from the 80's are The Thompson Twins and Talk Talk, and soon I'm going to be scrobbling a lot of their music. I've been currently revisiting Thompson Twins, Into the gap (probably their best album, but my personal fav might actually be Big trash.) and their very early first album, A product of, which is a very good album! Think Talking heads meets The Police!

Yuck..Holly Valance is selling sex way too much with nothing interesting to say. The pop track's got a mischievous and dark tone to it..so maybe that's what appeals to you about it? Anyway, I checked her out before but I never liked her music. And K-pop is pretty atrocious to me in fact..but that one song by Miss A was a little more on the melodic and bearable side of K-pop..which in that side of the K-pop world is pretty paper thin and non-existent. Hell, even when I tried to get into a Miss A album (that the tune Breathe was on) it was just like all of the rest in the K-pop world..obnoxious, crude and oversexed with a tasteless and very tacky production style. So I conclude now that I hate K-pop. lol All of the ridiculous girl and boy groups of K-pop are in fact all produced by one of only four main different big studio's in Korea, so that explains why it all sounds exactly the same, all trashy and tasteless. And K-pop is now HUGE in America! lol Doesn't really surprise me actually..

Well you do know that artist radios on Last fm are based on what other artists people listen to the most, who also listen to the artist selected for the radio play. (for their "similar/related artists in question) It's hit or miss. But I've actually had really good success with finding similar pop artists that I really loved from Mog.com, Rdio and Last fm artist radios. I just discovered this cute Kpop girl group called Miss A from doing a artist radio on Last Fm via Youtube. Didn't think I'd ever like any Kpop but I guess I was wrong! :-D I think that the dance choreography is genius in this video and the melody and beat are quite catchy, even musical! Am I crazy are is this not half bad?? **need an opinion**

Actually, from what my Brother tells me, the Lat Fm radio now "only" plays tracks that you actually have listened to before. Whereas before, it would play songs that you've not scrobbled yet by an artist that was in your library. So you get a more personal and refined library radio now which sounds more appropriate and fun to use. Sorry I don't understand what you mean about me benefiting from radio services using fine distinction upon certain artists?

I just discovered a really cool free radio player called Bog.fm or bop.fm which pulls songs by recommended artists based on what you type into the radio from several music streaming services like Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud and Rdio, all at the same time. From which ever of these music streaming services that you happen to be logged into at the moment. This makes for a much more efficient and fun radio service to use because sometimes you'll have artists that you might like available on one music streaming service but not another, so you get better variety for a artist or song radio.

I know that you had some trouble with Itunes before but would you ever consider going back to it? Last HQ has stated before when their site was down and most every service critical that it was caused by a big thunder storm knocking out their power. Last fm's data is indeed vulnerable and it past storms and other major errors with their servers, last fm actually lost a lot data and scrobbles from peoples libraries! Luckly all of that has never effected my profile. When you think about it though, pretty much everything on the web is susceptible to error and data loss. After the storm passed a few day's ago, the last thing to get fixed was the shoutboxs, which would stall and hang up..often not even posting your text. But that problem seems to be fixed as of yesterday. Now Last fm pulls all of its music streaming from Spotify and Youtube for the radio of course. It uses a beta Spotify web player on last fm which often does not work properly. I often have to go to Spotify directly to play.

Yep Last fm had a down period of a few day's recently where the sites features barely worked, if at all. Probably because of a crazy storm that moved through at one of their main server stations recently. This cause and effect is usually annul for last fm. I've never had a problem though with Rdio or Spotify not scrobbling to last fm. In fact, scrobbling through these two music streaming services are more reliable than last fm's own scrobbler for the ios, which completely quit working on my Ipod recently so I had to seek out a better alternative..and I found it. Sharetunes. Never misses a scrobble, has a faster instant update scrobble rate to your profile and it even has it's own cache! Not to mention that unlike the official scrobbler for the ios by Last fm; you don't have to be (stay) on the app for it to continue caching scrobbles! Very cool! Sharetunes is powered by Last fm though, so if Last fm site is severely crippled, the sharetunes player won't work right and have minor errors

Gotta love those free types of widgets. :-) I've been playing that one track by Linda Leen that I sent you and I just love it..but not so much the rest of her tracks from her debut 2000 album "Let's go insane". So I haven't been scrobbling her music. (I only scrobble artists to my library that I really like for several songs provided) I know, our tastes have drifted apart but we both like to talk about music and I always enjoy reading your comments about songs I share with you.

The first half of the next decade following the glorious 90's would obviously have something unique and special for a pop sound..which I think died out around 2008. It was this cool spacy, atmospheric dance pop sound with a optimistic attitude..and I love it! Right now I'm enjoying one of my favorite pop artists for this dance pop period; Amy Diamond - with her brilliant 2007 album "Music in motion". However, Ladybird is pretty my favorite dance pop artist for this period and Ann Winsborn as well! Sample Ladybird's 2003 single "Dangerous to me" to hear some magic from the 00's. Her voice is amazing and the dance beat is hypnotic! You especially have to hear Ladybird's best song ever "Nightvision" from her 2003 album of the same name. Check Spotify!

I kind of feel the same regarding tracks off of Club 8's newest album actually..nice stuff to maybe chill out to at night but nothing particularly exciting. The S club 8 song had sort of a hypnotizing pop vibe to it..very catchy and the female vocalists had a good sound to their voices. I like dance pop with this kind of atmosphere to it..maybe like Sugababes "Round round" or Girls aloud's "call the shots". Not really familiar wit that last track but it seems to fit what I'm talking about. You know, dance pop with a slight attitude and hypnotic sound to it? I can dig it. :-) Oh..this is one of my favorites! Dream - "He loves you not". Such a cool beat, sound and vocal performance. And..one more! Hmm, pop that's sophisticated and sleek? Here's some stuff that I love. You could be anybody" by Club 8, If you don't know why" by The Ocean blue, Goldie" by Sarah Cracknell and World without you" by Ivy. Oh and about Kisses, I like Pete's cool jazzy pop sound that he did (obviously) to "funny heartbeat". "I think our musical taste is drifting further adrift." I think you might be right..I feel like I'm lost at sea from all my fellow music listeners and I lost my paddle, and I'm surrounded by beautiful fish that are glowing different colors all around me and singing to me. lol Just a humorous story to play on your words. :-) Most Eurodance is all in the same garbage group "but" I've found some that is actually very good and a little creative for what it does with the genre. Like Ann Winsborn's "Je n' ai pas compris or Sophie Monk's "Inside out". But I understand that you don't like the genre either way. I know of Kisses and that one of St Etienne's members helped produce some of their songs but I don't really get too excited about this because Kisses are part of the whole retromania 80's wave that's over populating the current new brand of indie pop. Not really my thing.

That's not the only Victoria that I like though - Victoria Silvstedt. Once again, another talented female Swedish pop artist, wow! (I keep finding them!) This Victoria only had one album called "girl on the run" (and it was hard to find!) but it's decent eurodance, provided with a pretty wonderful, amazing voice! Overall her album has a very happy, good feel vibe to it and it was released in 1999 (one of my favorite years for some pop rel, so it has a cool 90's pop sound) ! However, it goes without saying that her music might be too much bubblegum sweetness for some listeners to stand, but I can indeed handle pop candy overload that Victoria unleashes lol Here's one of her two singles here - Hello hey. Sorry I forgot to tell you who they are..K3 are a Dutch/Flemish girl group who make very uplifting dance pop. (aimed at kids but can also be enjoyed by older people like myself.) For me, Victoria Beckham is one of the "most" exciting pop artists to listen to. Call me crazy but that's just the way that I feel. But you make a good point for why you probably shouldn't listen to more of her music because your taste palette is of a different makeup and purpose than for what I seek in pop music. With that said, it's always a pleasure when our taste palettes "do" collide. Recently I discovered a lovely dance/pop artist named Sophie Monk. However, I thought you might like this band that she was in before she went solo called Bardot.

Victoria's voice makes you cringe? Wow.. I seem to feel very different about her voice. I mean, I think she "can" sing fairly good and I think that her voice sounds great in the studio..kind of smooth and silky. However I understand you not preferring a voice like hers..especially when you add in her character/artist image..which a lot of people dislike. Though I find her to be very cool for her attitude and underrated for her talent. I was watching some interviews with her and I thought that she was acting like a Bitch but later on I saw another video of her and I realized that she's actually a pretty cool person. Also Victoria may not contribute to her music by writing the lyrics but she still contributes just by showcasing her talent, in which talented music producers can get lots of inspiration and cool idea's from. Does that make sense? I think that Victoria's R&B pop is above average quality (even with the autotune..which I usually hate) and more tasteful than most of its genre.

Hey you're right, we did discuss Delta G before..I just uh..kind of forgot. I remember now that you mention it. Anyway, I don't know much about her music at this point but from what I did hear back on Spotify, I liked most of what I heard. So I guess I have to get her first album later, since I always try to hear a new artist's debut album first. It will sound silly but I've recently realized upon hearing Victoria Beckham's first (and only official release) album again that I absolutely love it! I find that there is almost no filler to it and it proves to be a very pleasant listen on repeated plays. It will definitely go on my top favorite albums to play on repeated listens list! Guess I was more of a fan of her music than I thought. :-D

Now the compatibility meter is back to medium, that's better. :-) You're definitely right, Northern star has very good diversity! Though upon sampling Mel's other albums, they just sound like strait through rock pop and a few slower ballad tracks..probably was that way because on Melanie's debut she was trying a variety of different pop styles to see which one's worked the best for her? So ITWM was the last single from NS? I think it should have been the first or second single, it's a great track. I turn to you is pretty catchy but it just feels a bit like a track that Melanie wasn't suited for.

No you've never told me of Amy Studt before..but like with countless other female singer songwriter pop artists before; I've already checked her music out before (I think) and passed on her. Not my cup of tea. (I have very particular taste, sorry.) I can see why you like Melanie C a lot since she has the same type of pop/rock music with "bite" to it with an over gloss of alternative substance to it. Bytheway, I recently heard Lene Marlin's "unforgivable sinner" again and still loved it. That's a pop artist with songs you'd always remember because her songs are well composed and she has such a strong, moving voice.
