Happy new year greetings from a freezing Germany, it's superb to know you use lastfm for over 7 years :-) ... You are a lastFM immortal!... When you bring back to mind now - how did your "musical taste" evolve over time? ... Also... all the best for your forthcoming **277k scrobbles, and "6250 artists scrobbled" milestones** ... How I came by here? ... lastfm shows you as #2 in this weekly "Scrobble Leaderboard" charts: last DOT fm/user/yaowe58245/listening-report/week ... I am at #1 there ... For another great year of music for both of us!

Hi Erkan, to be absolutely fair, I am using this platform for much longer than 7 years as this is my second account so far. To answer your question as short as possible....my music taste became much less predictable as I am genre-free person nowadays and my artists switch from left to right each day. Cheers

It reflects both my mood and the mindset I am exploring. Sometimes what I listen is more a social aspect than musical. Take drill or war music. Not so supportive of ideals war chants represent but it sometimes correlates my interest in history/social research. I guess as I grew up I learnt to take a wider angle at each musical piece I consume, and that made my library being reflective on far more than a musical taste spectrum.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but my mind is calling me to recommend you to dive into Chassol works and his understanding of the music concepts that he handles so precisely jazzy in the modern context. Alfa Mist is a must-listen for you considering your quite a hop'ish library. Solid MC with a dominative jazz element in his production. For something rather odd and outstanding I would recommend to go for the new album of Park Jiha who is magnificent at handling her experience in ethnic music. I would say her last album is successfully blending narrow ethnic experience with the global approach, with an outcome of one of my favourite new jazz albums of the year.

Kind of you. Nice charts as well, records from all around the world. Glad to meet. Your love for Wiley caught my attention. Therefore I might listen to his latest album Godfather. The first time I heard grime was probably Dizzee Rascal's BIDC some years ago and it didn't sound anything special to me back then. Recently I enjoy Skepta's new album, the vibe on that album clicked on me. I dig how sinister and punchy the beats and flows can sound in grime compared to rest of hiphop.

Lately I'm listening to Dorothy Ashby a lot and have a random thought that you should check her out :"D

I'm happy to hear that, I'm a major grime head even though my last fm does not say so, so I'm happy for it to go far. You should get into Wiley, he's like my personal Godfather and the godfather of the genre as well. I think there's no other artist I value more than him in any genre .

I love that you listen to Quái Vật Tí Hon (Tiny Monsters) too :) They are a pretty good band with some terrific songs for sure.

I've heard mention of him but never actually gave him a listen. I'm set on Bavouzet after recently purchasing his set to see how it compares to other acclaimed recordings (Lortie, Thibaudet, Roge, Crossley). Honestly, apart from perhaps Grosvenor's Gaspard, I think he hits it out the park. I was worried at first I wouldn't enjoy his playing after ordering it but boy was it worth it!

Yeah I get you. Never heard those exact recordings but you cant really go wrong with chandos from my experience. Tragedie de Salome and Psalm 47 are both super epic. http://i.imgur.com/nmcTpE7.png those are my go-to albums. I use spotify but if need be you can find most of those recordings on youtube as a last resort to download from.

That's awesome to hear. You certainly have quite an eclectic library which is great. Yes, I've heard my fair share of grime over the years, though I'm certainly no expert on it at all. Feinberg's sonatas are fantastic -- he was quite a composer as well as pianist. If I could recommend you my favourite composers this year, I'd go for Florent Schmitt (reves, symphonie concertante, ombres, crepuscules, tragedie de salome, psalm 47, etc), Pierre-Octave Ferroud (foules, symphony in a, types), and Maurice Emmanuel (6 sonatines). Schmitt is like a mix of Wagner, Ravel and Scriabin. It's amazing he isn't better known (though I can see why his name was buried due to his toxic behaviour).

"There are lots who write music inspired by folk tunes?" Is that a question or an affirmation ended by a question mark? Because if it's a question, the word order isn't appropriate. So I concluded that it was deliberate sarcasm. "Sure bout whatcha mean?" I don't remember meaning anything, I just asked a question...

Was that some sarcasm coupled with an attempt of Ebonix? Because I barely understood what you wrote.

Hey do you know if there is any other composer with folk influences similar to Geirr Tveitt? His music makes me happy.
