<quote> what did you make of L.E.D.? </quote> [event=1489795]LED Festival 2010[/event]? Yes, I was maybed for that (LastFM gave 70% compatibility). I prefer crowds smaller than 1,000 & it'd never looked good, for my attendance, since I live in Notting Hill (where we like to have a little party each year, on that weekend). As it happened, I had a horrid cold, which kept me away from the carnival too :/ I hope you had a good time & Goldfrapp did better than singing like a septic to a [tag]handbag house[/tag] backing ;) NB: Most of [url=/user/IanAR/events]my future maybes[/url] are just awaiting a gig buddy (I rarely put 'attending' 'til after the fact) - so if you fancy any, pls bung me a PM or 'Share' :D

<quote> Late respond, but just like you, I don't trust them Apple with my likes or dislikes let alone real name. It's almost sad now that they've become the next monopolizing Microsoft. Having been an ardent apple user, dare I say I think my next phone will not be iphone, but htc.. And I know you don't like Spot me fly, but they've recently added a feature to add your own list of items from your hd, which makes it more worth while for me. Since I have music that isn't always commercially available. </quote> If I'm the first to scrobble something, & there's no guidance from artist / label, I'll generally follow [group]MusicBrainz.org[/group] guidelines.

Recommendations: You seem to like singer-songwriters, in which case, you should really check out [artist]Andrew Bird[/artist], his albums are very varied, including folk, swing and rock n roll elements. [artist]Tune-Yards[/artist]'s [album artist=Tune-Yards]BiRd-BrAiNs[/album] is an album you might like from last year.

<quote> With this [i]italic text[/i], I [b]boldly[/b] proclaim and [u]underline[/u] da obvious - I'm still no expert ..hehe! And music knows no age, u of all ppl should know that! :) </quote> #bbCode: Some's defeated in shoutboxes, wikis (semi) & event descriptions (semi) - some of that's for no good reason, IMO. #jacquesHigelin: I meant, Tom prob' learnt from him. #partingsSuchConfusingSorrow: [url=http://youTube.com/watch?v=AwuOmhPPDio]My Brightest Diamond - To Pluto's Moon (Live @ Le Poisson Rouge, December 2008)[/url] - Amazing!

<quote> See why I sent you the spotify link? So spotify is good for some, hey! Don't bother looking on youtube :) hehe </quote> My usage of the $potify link went as follows: [1] cut/paste link from shout into Google [2] cut/paste artist/title into Last.FM search [3] find correct tagging [4] cut/paste artist/title back to Google [5] press videos option [6] click on some YouTubes - Simples! *squeak* :P

<quote> yep, I can see where you're coming from. I once forgot to 'deactivate' my itunes from my computer at a previous job and now can't listen to some of the tracks I bought.. So silly! At least Spotify and iTunes means w're progressing, right? l.. just like AOL, they'll be forced to open the gates at some point.... Oh, and Ian, that link of NY Excuse (Justice Remix) doesn't have the option to listen to the song... </quote> Progressing? I'm not sure. Most has seemed the opposite since Last.FM circa Feb 07 (before you were here). I've always had as little to do as possible w/ AOL and've heard little but bad things about them. They now have control of my LAUNCHcast content (where I did interent radio, before here), since they bought it / into-it from Yahoo! :/

<quote> whaah? why? sorry to put you on the $pot.. personally, I wouldn't have used it had it not scrobbled my tunes... now I use it more than itunes </quote> Ha! I hate $potify for most of the same reasons I hate iTune$! A [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walled_garden_%28technology%29]walled garden[/url] that requires me to pollute my computer w/ [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_open_source_and_closed_source]closed source[/url] software to join - Both no-nos, in my book. I think the track you're referring to is Soulwax's [track artist=Soulwax]NY Excuse (Justice Remix)[/track] which $potify's mistagging (another reason to hate). I found the track on YouTube and, somehow, it reminds me of Simian Mobile Disco's [track artist=Simian Mobile Disco]Sleep Deprivation[/track], mostly the austerity of the start, see http://youTube.com/watch?v=9rpkxg2P2Zs xx

Thanks for the add :) I think [track artist=Alvin and The Chipmunks]Funkytown[/track] is Alvin and The Chipmunks' finest hour - I've not found anything, from them, that comes close. Meantime, my latest [url=http://www.last.fm/user/IanAR/library/tags?tag=cheese]cheese[/url] is [track artist=PINKY & PERKY]Hokey Cokey[/track] - On probation, not sure if it'll grow on me or be fromage de la belle porcelet overload ;)

I've made a Bristol remix of it (home town of Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky, etc... well you probably know that) You can listen to it here : www.radioheadremix.com/remix/?id=1307 Hope you like it, and don't forget to vote.. support the Bristol sound ! :) Thanks !

Yes. Bats For Lashes is stunning. I definately get a Bjork feel but not so much Pj Harvey. It's very melodic and the instrumentation is great. On Horses and I they use Harpsichord and a saw and bass and drums etc. Really good stuff.

have you seen the live version of Satisfaction she did with Bjork? It's probably the most painful thing I have ever seen.

I think my favourites are Stories From The City, stories from the sea and Rid of me. Stories is very melodic and flows incredibly well and Rid of me is really raw and powerful. Man sized is scary though. :-D
