Awesome taste in music! I really love Voyager as well and it's great seeing your profile picture of it. I've been a 311 fan since '95. Anyway, have a great week

Hi, I saw you in Stuck Mojo's shoutbox. Nice, you're using the artwork for Voyager as your avatar. I have listened to it, but not scrobbled it. It's a good album and perhaps I'll scrobble it one day. I have been a fan of 311 for a good number of years.

Musical roots & origins stem there... would like to think it's among the more higher-end artists of that genre... and that I've branched out (considerably) but my first recording would definitely be a twist on heavier stuff, for sure!

Hey man, how's it going? Personally I like it... was never really into MH writing songs that were as long as Metallica & all of that. There's a conscience effort to keep the song-writing more concise with an emphasis on hooks & overall solidarity. Records like that I find more "listenable" from front-to-back so I think it's pretty cool. Still dissecting it but I did go out & buy it

I hear everything from "The Burning Red" to "Bloodstone & Diamonds" on "Catharsis" but kind of melded into a blender... with great tones... intelligent writing. Concise yet profound... this one just really does it for me. Puts Robb & MH on a totally different level as far as favorites now.

It's already my highest played MH album on my charts lol... I was exposed to them around the age of 7 or 8 years old but there were certain songs "Davidian", "Old", "Ten Ton Hammer", "Desire to Fire" that were the ones that stuck with me. I liked where they were going on Bloodstone & Diamonds but I just prefer writing that's concise. Not that everything needs to fit into a neat little package but when I look back on what's memorable most records I feel can be encapsulated in 5 songs that are the equivalent of "highlights" but for "Catharsis" it's really the whole thing. Haven't found one track that's "skip-worthy"

Looking through the messages on the Machine Head shoutbox reminds me of why I started "following you" waaaay back in a time when it was still called sending a "friend request" here on Last.fm. I don't message as much as I used to but I still use Last.fm regulary, always interesting to see your charts and taste in music. Much respect for STILL having an open mind and an opinion of your own! Greetings from an old friend.

Appreciate you saying that man... kind of amazing when you keep track of what you listen to for over a decade... but yeah I've tried to continue to expand the taste while keeping some type of solidarity... as well as just looking for what I consider to be "catalog artists" ones that you can appreciate like the deep tracks on the albums, etc...Yours are really interesting as well! I love staying up on both some new stuff & then discovering (or rediscovering) forgotten hidden greats. You know how it is :)

Yeah I play guitar as well, was in a band a few years ago and had a lot of fun. But it ended a bit sourly and put me off for a few years. Started a new band last year and recorded a demo E.P but it ended up fizzling out, which is a shame because I was proud of that one. Yeah I live in a fairly big City and near other big cities so am fortunate in that I get to go to many gigs. I'm seeing Bowling for Soup & The Dollyrots on Monday. And I'm Thursday going to see Therapy? play internal love in full, which is basically my favourite band of all time playing my favourite album of all time. I actually saw Stuck Mojo play to about 30 people in a local venue about 10 years ago. They were really entertaining. Rich Ward spent about 10 minutes arguing with a guy in the crowd who challenged him to a rap battle, which ended with him just playing guitar licks everytime the guy spoke.

It's always good to have a diverse set of musical tastes though. I grew up in the 90's when it was all about the alt-rock. But my dad got me in to punk. My grandad in to folk and country and my mum in to female vocalists. So I tend to bounce between those 4 things. There are loads of the 90's/00 alt bands I've never seen but would give a kidney to.

Top 5 albums released this year other than dopamine for me would be Therapy? - Disquiet Frank Turner - Positive Songs for Negative People Everclear - Black is the New Black. Backyard Babies - Four by Four Danko Jones - fire music. I'd recommend giving anyone of those a listen but especially Frank Turner as he's got a lyrical style quite similar to Mr Jenkins.

I can't think of many better albums this year than Dopamine. I mean any album that hangs with and even maybe surpasses some of Jenkins earlier work has got to be considered for album of the year status! But I've been quite spoiled with several of my favorite artists bringing out brilliant albums this year.

Yeah, i absolutely love it. I didn't think they would top Living Infinite but they did it somehow. I cannot help but feel they are one of the best bands in their genre today. I'm trying to get all of their albums, so I pick one up whenever I see it in a record store. I picked up A Predator's portrait with The Ride majestic yesterday. And I got Figure Number Five a month ago. The old albums might not be as good as some of the newer ones but I want to own all their albums. I want the Panic Broadcast because I really like Let this river flow and I have an idea of how good that album probably is.
