Hey Paul, In case you've not encountered it yet, I can really recommend Conditions by The Temper Trap... bought it after hearing Science of Fear on Lamacq's show. Should convincingly satisfy your Mansun fetish!

Thanks for writing the music! I finally found your album available here in the U.S., placed the order and I'm looking forward to hearing all of it.

Hi Paul, Bought that The Dears album... pretty good but not blown away yet. Will try again... I am impressed by Alec Empire's Intelligence & Sacrifice, though: I bought it when thinking about getting an ATR collection, and was pleased to find that it's a bit less mental than ATR and actually pretty NIN in places. In short, you might like it... disc #1 anyway!

Yep, click through and then you can't see what you're replying to... duh. Curve are brilliant, but then the stats say that I would say that. I'd start with Doppelganger, then Pubic Fruit (collection of early EPs etc.) Cuckoo and Come Clean are good, too, but not so edgy. The later albums are a bit generic and indicative of Toni's increasing desperation, and the best of, while substantial, doesn't hang together as well as the albums. You might also like Cranes --- once you get past the initial wtf response to the vocals, the songs are awesomely crafted. Live in Italy is the place to start for them, IMO. Any recommendations for me? ;)

Goddamit, I keep posting these things on my own page... "Addendum to the previous... just listened to the Andy Yorke album. It's nice, but not overwhelming. Lots of Dune Sea cello. MIght be a grower, though. I also finally got round to supporting Nigel Powell by buying the first Sad Song Co album... will also think about Dive Dive and SSC #2 (which he's selling as a you-choose-the-price thing) if it's good... which it's meant to be. All in all, though, it's just nice to have Andy Yorke back again and making heartfelt little songs."

Oops, posted this on my own page: I've actually got the Andy Yorke album, but haven't listened to it yet: the perils of buying cheap second hand CDs faster than I can listen to them. Gets good reviews, and yes Nigel Powell is on there (and producing). I'd listen to it now, but am stuck at CERN for the week with just a laptop & the Firefly DVD box set! Going to visit your college dad in Lausanne on Thursday, as it happens.

Hadn't heard about the FNM tour, no. Will have to keep an eye out and see if it comes anywhere near me... wherever I am by that time: I have to leave Durham by October, and there are currently no even remotely solid job plans!

I agree, the older version with the organ is a lot more enjoyable though it's still very good. Ahhh, yes, Mansun... I haven't listened to them for a while, I think I shall do soon...

Nice to see Big Ideas (Don't Get Any) towards the top of an overall track list... such a good song...
