"Yeah, you a cold one dawg." - thanks. "I wouldn't be seen mocking the man's ill-health" I wouldn't mock ill man's health either, so what's the problem?

The problem is you mocking MF DOOM's diabetes. I didn't think this was so complicated.

"Your compatibility with ChrisLloyd1 is Super. You both listen to Melvins, Boards of Canada and Tool." With a big fat 99%. I see no problems with this.

This is a big 10-4. Buzz, Dale, and S.S.McDonald were in London the other night and were fan-fucking-tastic. I hope to be around when they celebrate the next 40 years of Melvins.

Me toooooo. I saw them for the first time last summer, I'm so pissed I wasn't able to see them the last time they played nearby but I'll be seeing them when they come around again in September. Having King Buzzo play guitar directly in my face again is imperative.

If you're in the US you have the joys of both Melvins AND Boris coming your way. I am jealous of the face-melting you shall receive. What a great line-up!

Oh, wow, the Queens of the Stone Age ST in someone's charts. I don't think I've listened to that album in a decade; it's long overdue for a revisit. Thanks for the follow!

The debut QOTSA album is 'robot rock' at its finest. The grooves are unreal. You've got some serious indie-folk clocked up on your profile ... I've never head a single song by Fleet Foxes. :-/

Yeah, indie folk is sort of an anomaly from my other favourite genres... It's all because an old college roommate of mine used to love blasting indie folk through our rental house at all hours. Rather than get into a spat with them, I decided to embrace it as a hilarious quirk (what about folk music screams "crank me up"?). Turns out it's alright music to study, read, and fall sleep to — even at wall-shaking volumes. So, I kept some of it — including quintessential Pacific Northwest act, Fleet Foxes (mere exposure effect in action).

Well, today I learned about the all-pervasive effects of wall-shaking indie folk! I suppose the equivalent in our house is instrumental hip-hop, notably the BBC's 'Focus Beats' series, which does exactly what it says on the tin (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p06lkldv). The only Pacific Northwest act which reigns supreme for me is the Melvins, who I will be seeing next week to celebrate the glorious 40th year as a band.

I'm ashamed to say I can't recall ever having listened to the Melvins. I'll have to change that asap; 40 years is nothing to stick your nose up at. I hope you had a blast seeing them! What do you think of that new Janelle Monáe album? It's quite different from the rest of their discography.

The Melvins are required listening. For some pro-shot recent soundboard footage, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzEKLH4Ih_U As for the new Janelle Monáe album, I'm lukewarm on it: it seems like the perfect summer party record, but it's only 30 minutes long and it's immediately background music for me. I'm kinda meh.

That's how I feel: a pleasant but passive listen that will fit right in on a pool or beach day. I'm seeing them at the end of the summer and it will be interesting to see how (or if) it translates to a live show.

There's no need to really. All Gods should be mocked. And if I go to hell, I'll get to meet Hendrix, which will be really cool. Your compatibility with Itachiu1 is Low. You both listen to Kendrick Lamar, FKA twigs and Stevie Wonder.

Reznor is the gift that keeps on giving. From teen angst, to angry political soundscapes akin to The Bomb Squad, and onto Oscar winning electronic scores. We grow with him. But seemingly Weezer is where it's at and, as I have said to other people here, I just don't get it. What's the big deal? What am I missing?

Who are similar to ISIS? I'll try to skip the ones you have scrobbled and popular ones as well. Cult of Luna, Year of No Light, Pelican, Omega Massif, Blindead, Mouth of the Architect, Dirge, Callisto, Russian Circles, Intronaut, East of the Wall. I know plenty more as well if you already have listened to them or etc.

Nevermind mate (hope that's alright to use). I am not sure whether I fully grasp your point on D., also note that I don't mean temporal pluralities but rather plural temporalities (tho that might be the same in Derridean thinking, dunno). Either way, I am alway grateful for your responses - I know that you are a busy man :)

Hi Chris. Any literature suggestions on newer philosophy that dwells and contemplates on plural temporalities? It seems to be a recurring topic, e.g. Derrida's Spectres, Papier-Machine or Voyous, but also in Puar's "Terrorist Assemblages" or in Chakrabarty's "Provincializing Europe". Do you know any other literature that goes into that? Would be rad. Also, have you read Papier-Machine, in particular "Ribbon Ink (2)"? The essay is vertiginous :s

Regarding women abuse, it really is a devastating fact. I guess the sentence for abusers is not strict enough and what makes it more difficult is the fear among women to inform abusers. In my opinion women should also take matters in their own hands and learn some self defense techniques. I've seen a lot of Gauguin works, however at that time I didn't know the name of artist behind those works. You visited Tahiti?! That's awesome! Yes it does make sense, that's why I enjoy talking about life and mindset with older people so much. :)

No problem, I hope you enjoyed listening to Money Jungle. I like post-impressionist paintings by Vincent van Gogh. However, I'm more a fan of surrealism artists like Zdzisław Beksiński for instance. Speaking of books it seems we both have the same priorities: books where we can learn something useful/practical. I like spiritual sciences like Shamanism and various wisdom philosophies, psychology, anthropology, music related history books... When I'm reading novels (which is a rare thing) it's usually something from Sci-Fi genre.

I've seen some reviews where people claim Gunther Schuller did it only for the money. Either way I think there's too many great moments for me on the album to consider it just as a project made to earn money. Mingus was a very ambitious man, but as far as I know he never employed such a huge band. Therefore the complexity of performances is probably much greater than it would be under the leadership of Mingus himself. Btw it's nice to see you collect vinyl and have a lot of variety in your music library! :)
