Hi Adam!! Sorry for the delay, I had problems with my laptop :( I've been enjoying the three first albums from Folkodia, Orkrist andGallowbraid, very nice to re-discover them. About new stuff, I liked Syn Ze Sase Tri, but the new CDs from Negura Bunget and Carach Angren are just ok for me What about you??

Mmmyeah. I heard them all but I only liked some pieces of Bane of Winterstorm. They sound like a fairly good-or-going-for-it Rhapsody clone :D There's at least one good thing, seeing so many bands inspired by them. I don't think Nevermore are coming back together, there's too much money and spite involved. Instead we'll get Sanctuary, solo recs. by Jeff and Warrel and that's about it. On a side note, I'm expecting Evergrey to start buzzing about the new album anytime soon.

Try your luck with IE. First half is really strong imo, the rest doesn't live up to it but there are other interesting things out there. Mindcage is cool, I agree on the comparison. And yes, the accursed reunion album of Sanctuary should be out this year. I'm sick of waiting for it. Also, thanks again for the FB PM, the clip made my day :D Been watching it several times since.

Hey, I'm fine myself, thanks! Actually, all 2014 releases that I've listened to this far were good to awesome. Starting with WT's Hydra, the most awesome one yet! :D Plus, there's Iced Earth new beast, Aenaon's new album (new discovery, if you like blackened prog metal!), MaYaN new surprise album (the first one sucked so hard). There are also Alcest's new its-ok album... Wow, those are a lot :P Hope you like any of them if you get the chance to listen to it. :D

It seems like I'm getting into a love/hate relationship with Dream Theater because I managed to like their last two albums even though the band used to get on my nerves rather quickly in the past. My Dying Bride is my curse, can't get into them for life. Same with Anathema and The Gathering. The latter announced their hiatus recently, good riddance. Kudos for the Skyrim cover, it adds him some positive points to his account :D And last but certainly not least, thanks for the birthday wishes here and on FB :)

I liked Ayreon a lot. As well as Dream Theater, more surprisingly. But VP is definitely a great starting point for the genre. Even Tony gives his best on one of the greatest tracks there. I heard Mechina and liked some songs but the vocals sound unpleasant. Would rather listen to instrumental versions. Or this.

Thanks, dear :) The year started great, hope to keep it that way. At least there's some really good music to go along with it. Vanishing Point was gathering dust in my promo folder and I managed to get to it just last night, for example. But heck, what a fantastic album! Could be their best yet.

As weird as it sounds, they all work :D The track with Xzibit is... I don't know, odd. Can't say I've heard anything like it. It's the shortest on the album and it works more as a symphonic rap interlude of sorts. As for Dangerous, the duet with the Killswitch Engage dude, it's FANTASTIC. Their fastest and catchiest track to date, no wonder they chose it for a second single. Will be out on 20th Dec. The closing theme with Soul Asylum's singer is also beautiful, very melodic and cello-driven power ballad. Loving the album so far, can't even pick a favourite song out of my top 4 choices.

Seems like you always choose the right songs when it comes to me :D We agree on Keldian - it's good, not sure exactly where it stands when it comes to the previous perfections, we'll see. It has potential but also some rundown moments. Though nothing really changed - their compositional approach is the same, the vocals are the same, everything. Maybe that's why it's still good. When you have a killer style to begin with, lack of evolution is not a crime, unless you over-exploit it. IE is definitely a grower. Eight cool tracks, the rest gets better and better. It's slower than Dystopia, also heavier and has some epic choirs like The Culling. Songs like Democide are to die for. Stu is fantastic. Rhapsody... I regret ever listening to it save for 1-2 tracks. You'll get to know why very soon. And yes, 2014 will be loaded with awesome stuff. Personally, there's WT and 'the rest' for me but Evergrey was just added to that pile. Heads will roll in January and February.

I see. Couldn't listen to heavy music for over a week too, definitely needed a break. That happens from time to time, the bad thing is that it does so right when I have to review crapload of albums. Heard two Keldian songs in their premixed versions - the first one (Burn the Sky) is awesome, your typical Keldian power metal hit with a catchy chorus. The other one didn't impress me that much but I'm sure the album will be stellar again.

Been better but I'll be fine. Went through a burnout but thanks to some wonderful people and events it's slowly fading away. What have you been up to?

Saw Elysium tonight and it was well worth it. Lived up to the expectations. Wasn't that much Sci-Fi, I'd say dystopia. A pretty good one even though it has some influences from classic movies. Matt Damon was really cool. Best of 2013 so far for me. So Dani is on a singing spree from what I see? The man is everywhere :D Not bad at all. I know Dark Inversion but they can't hold a candle to what Religious Inversion is all about. It's more than a band. It's an ideology.

As for debuts, Frosttide seriously blew me away. Whole album is super cool. Speaking of power metal, there's the upcoming Bane of Winterstorm debut which sounds really promising so far. They're still unsigned but it shouldn't take long.

Keldian is one of the power metal highlights till the end of the year along with Persuader. Here's hoping they'll both make it, of course. Pasi got back in Thunderstone which made my week along with the news about that Nightwish DVD with Her Majesty even though nothing rivals the news of the latter! You want some EDT style, eh? Ever heard of Religious Inversion? They've got it all covered. Not to mention they're way better. And bigger.

Haven't checked Manticore's booklet, the album still hits my nerves pretty damn much. So it figures, haha. As for the gig, it was a funny story... I wrote to Allender to wish him a good time in BG 'tomorrow' and he replied by saying the show is tonight so I grabbed my stuff and ran to the concert hall, would've missed it otherwise. The band was in great shape and Dani gave his 110% but I couldn't appreciate it properly because I felt exhausted and totally beat down thanks to the 'awesome' day at work. Still, it was nice seeing thed guys on stage again. Yes, I remember him being busy with Temple of the Black Moon and now it seems he's literally everywhere. Still waiting for his poetry book here. Back on Pyramaze, there's a chance for Urban to be a part of it but it's nothing more than a last resort. Maybe they've found someone else by now. Should be announced soon enough.

Good to know about Sirenia and Enshine, they're definitely up there somewhere. Enjoyed the hell out of them lately. WFT is also decent, maybe not on par with the debut but still kinda cool. In the meantime, AtomA was put on hold, don't know if you read the news. Ashes of Ares is ok, the music isn't too complex by any means but it takes me back to the good old IE sound because of Matt. It has its merits.

Yeah well, the thing is, Mechina's album is weak on the production side, which is a let down since this kind of albums deserves a lot better production... on the other hand, Yeah, Summoning album is amazing... Such an original sound for the Atmospheric Black metal scene, which I happen to know alot! I'll check those you recommended ASAP, as I am lost right now in new releases :P

Oh my, I love An Elixir For Existence. Both albums are ace and they sound like a natural development of the sound Morten's best known for. Another CoF wannabe groupie? Do we really need that? Gonna try it anyway. I remember Dani joined another band as a side project recently but the name escapes me. Also, something strange occurred to me - he seems to change the keyboard players the most. I get the feeling someone in the band plays the sections and then they hire some girls to participate in the videos, posing as keyboardists. Just look at the post-Temptation clips.

Nice, I'll check it out! Seems the guys are getting even more productive these days and that's awesome. More post-rock? It doesn't bother me so I'll hear it. Weird you didn't like Sirenia's single, it's rad and a huge step forward. As for sir Christopher Lee, he's an epitome of epicness, so it figures :)

Hello Adam! It seems you have an amazing culture in atmospheric doom metal! That's great. I'm always searching for new recommandations in that field, so, if you see bands you consider really great and that are not in my library yet, I'm always interested to get some :-) In the same vein of my band [artist]Angellore[/artist], for example! Have a nice day.

mmm...I liked TFoES's "Amends", but after 5 spins and me falling asleep It got a little boring...but like you said, its solid. As for Mechina, I was intending to listen to them...lets see how that works out! :P as for DT, the record is somehow strange, but its really good if you give it some time...

Give it time - I spinned Construct for at least a week before it finally started making some sense. Can't compare it with WAtV because both are all solid for me but just like any other DT albums, they're just not meant for being marginalized and put in frames. A friend just told me the new CoB is out, check it out as well.

Aaaaaah Kamelot, well, you have them on the top too, so you know what I mean ;) as for 2013, I guess that I have multiple number 1's, first of all, there's Amorphis new masterpiece "Circle" which easily topped the charts for me when it got released, and its battling "Skyforger" for my fav album for Amorphis, plus, there's Dark Tranquillity's "Construct" which I got yesterday and blew my mind whole!!! and in third place there's SE's "Omega Arcane" which I totally agree with you on the part it has influence from SF's last two albums which I love... :) then comes Omnium Gatherum's "Beyond" and Persefone's "Spiritual Migration" and In Vain's "AEnigma", as for Power metal, there's Helloween's "Straight Out Of Hell" and Dreamtale's "World Changed Forever", I guess that's enough for now :P and your fav in 2013 so far?
