I second what Totenmond has expressed. It was disappointing to see Valentina so low down but also expected. We must remember that it was a win in itself, how against all odds, Valentina made the final this year. San Marino's name being called out has got to be one of the greatest Eurovision moments ever and it was clear that at that moment, Valentina had just won a personal battle. These undeniably old fashioned Ralph Siegel compositions she's sung these past three years have brought me a lot of joy. As you said, Valentina is a very down to earth, humble girl. She cried in a video interview when a message I had sent was read out to her. Her interpretation of "Maybe" was achingly beautiful. It was bittersweet. You really feel the pain and longing in her voice. Not many artists (certainly today) are as honest with what they present to us. I'm grateful to Ralph for caring so much for Valentina and putting things right. I'm pretty sure this isn't the last we'll be seeing of her as well.

Hm, that's kind of weird coming from a German when Ralph Siegel proved to send many quality songs to Eurovision in the past, particulary in the late 70's/early 80's (even securing that one win in '82). Recently it's happened as well with Montenegro in 2009 and this recent Valentina trilogy. Felt a bit bad for seeing this last song ranking so low in the final. I don't know if it's the end of the road for Valentina in ESC but in case it is she's proven her value to Europe. From the "shady" humble beginings with the social network song to this final number last night. Above all this she has also proven to be a really down to earth, likeable person with talent, which is not that common of a thing. Plenty of other talented people out there, but if their souls could speak...

Hopefully now that she finally made the final (and lost there) Ralph Siegel quits trying again.

An interview with Valentina about her chances this year and the possibility of coming back once more in the next few years: http://abitofpopmusic.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/interview-valentina-monetta-i-dont-want-to-worry-about-getting-into-the-final/

"Forse/Maybe" is mesmerising. The only other Eurovision song that has managed to make me watery eyed was "Suus". Yes, we have yet another Ralph Siegel relic but Valentina's interpretation is raw with such sincerity. It's a very bittersweet song. There is just so much pain and longing in Valentina's voice, it overwhelms me. I find myself easily looking past the dated production. I was hoping to finally have some jazz from Valentina (maybe when she comes back next year?) but I can't imagine anyone else interpreting Ralph's compositions as well as she does. Valentina really puts every last ounce of her being into the song. Musically this is also a big step up from "Crisalide". Listen carefully and you can hear what sounds like a Sitar(?) and besides the Eurobeat, the production sounds more organic this time around. I really hope this is Valentina's year but i'm worried. Fan reaction has been mixed. Anyway it's not a matter of "Maybe", there certainly is a pearl in Valentina's shell.

I don't like The Social Network Song, but Crisalide was great, she deserved to be in the final [11]. Good luck for next year :) I wish, she will sing jazz (swing) song.

Third time lucky? It seems it was announced we will see her back in 2014 as well. I don't mind, I really liked 'Crisalide (Vola)'!

Biggest injustice ever was this lady not reaching the final. Over the past couple of years i've come to learn so much about Valentina. She's a very special jazz singer with an extremely expressive voice and is a beautiful, warm, down to earth girl. I love her. The way she sings touches me. 11th place in her semi is nothing to be ashamed of especially when you consider San Marino is a tiny micro state, no diaspora to rely on like most other countries.. plus Italy weren't even allowed to vote in the semi. Then the scam of having SVT decide the running order and putting poor Valentina on 2nd. She had so much going against her but still did very well in a contest full of unfairness. I hope she comes back again. San Marino tv said they'd love to have her again. Third time lucky! Come back with a jazz song and show everyone what you're about!

I can't understand why Valentina is not in the final!!!!! The performance was very beautiful and her voice was pretty good! INn Eurovision, countries will always vote only for their neighbors or because political reasons. And YES, I am taking this very seriously... xD
