Definitely a formative album for me, those many years ago. The lyricism (especially of the heads - see cficarra below) makes so-called 'free jazz' approachable for anyone with their ear open. Once listened to, you cannot help going around with these tunes in your head, a quality of penetrating uniqueness which weds our souls to artists like Monk. Peace - CCW

what a backwards argument. surely you would come to ORNETTE's page to hear ORNETTE perform ORNETTE's composition, then "go elsewhere" to hear other people cover it.

Ornette is seventy eight years old although you wouldn't believe it because he is so young in spirit and energy and playfulness and imagination. Fortunately I heard him at Ronnie Scott's in the sixties. Mr. Congeniality really and he has always been so inventive and original. You can't stop pure genius from playing!
