Wow, this album is incredible, and the girl who sings on two of the tracks is phenomenal! Never heard of her before, I'll have to check out other stuff from her!

Best Ornette Coleman recording, IMO, and one of my favorite Free Jazz works. This is powerful music with lots of unorthodox and unusual elements (vocals in this type of music rarely work well, but Asha Puthli's emotional singing (tracks 1 and 6) works beautifully here, as does the narration/recitation on the title song (which also successfully incorporates the sounds of a crying baby). It's hard to name a star of the proceedings, but Charlie Haden on bass and Billy Higgins and Ed Blackwell on drums really shine, playing with power and reining the players back in just when it seems things will fall apart completely. Certainly not the easiest place for an aspiring Ornette Coleman fan to begin with his discography, but for those who have checked out some of the other stuff and/or are fairly well versed in Avant-Garde/Free Jazz, this is an album you'll want to hear sooner rather than later.
