Pop country is a crossover musical genre that incorporates traditional pop and adult contemporary elements such as catchy hooks, upbeat lyrics, and electric guitar solos into modern country music. The style is typically also known as 'the Nashville sound'. Among fans of traditional country/classic country music, pop country sometimes generates strong opinions about artists "selling out" or otherwise ruining key elements that have made country music great. However, pop country is a popular genre among American, Canadian, and Australian listeners.
