I agree that the EBM Techno influence took a different turn for industrial music, however, the roots of these new styles were influenced through these old school artists including Cabaret Voltaire and Test Dept. etc. In other words through innovation the original Industrial artists got the ball rolling towards more synth oriented industrial but NIN is still the sellout band and even though I can appreciate his talent to a certain extent. I can never forgive him for selling out one of the most raw and innovative music genres, ever. Industrial music was never meant to be a money making p0pular genre. It is the antithesis of Industrial musics original intent.

"old school industrial"... to me it's just "industrial." all that techno dance shit they play in the clubs has almost nothing to do with industrial. [3] And yet the top artists of this tag represents industrial music way better than the top artists of "industrial" tag. [5]

Some of the performance art of the members of Throbbing Gristle literally involved puke on the floor among other things that most people would probably not want described to them.

Anything with the word old school in it makes me think of puke on the floor!
