Lovestep was initially a variant of Dubstep (Post-Dubstep) in the late 2000s, from mid-2010s-present this music represent a more sophisticated and soft atmosphere Future Bass, characterized by the use of R&B-styled and soothing vocals, as well as smooth drops of the songs, using syncopated rhythmics, melodic and stripped down tooth saw-like waves bass sounds, and to a minor degree groovy basslines like in Nu-Disco, and the Trap (EDM) 808 drums.

The sounds are created either by synths, frequencies in a DAW plugin or organically by bass guitar.

The music has a slower tempo (60-90 BPM) and it is not euphoric than its parent, chord progression and vocals are strongly influenced by the Contemporary RnB music of the 1990s, like Keith Sweat's Nobody, or similar music like that.
