Jazzstep, also known as jazzy jungle and jazz and bass is a drum and bass subgenre which emerged in 1995. It is a result of a combination of the rhythmic drum and bass structure with contemporary electronic jazz composition.
A typical tune from this genre is characterized by brass arrangements, acoustic instruments, jazz scales, and jazz rhythms. The related genres are intelligent drum and bass and liquid funk.
