Filler is a term used in the music industry to describe songs that have been deemed to of been made solely to fill up empty space on an album. This practice was common place in the 1960s as most artists attempted to fill up the 22 minutes per side allotted for vinyl records back then. The term has also been used to describe songs that have been deemed to add nothing to the original song. Although the practice decreased in the 1970s, it has been believed to of increased in recent times, with artists such as Chris Brown, Morgan Wallen and Drake having been accused of including high amounts of filler on their albums in order to drive up album equivalent unit sales per Billboard requirements.
