Electric boogaloo is the music that succeeded funk and coincided with hip-hop and rap, as a newly emergent inner-city dance music. Featuring voice boxes, synthesizers, and turntables (later in its evolution), electric boogaloo is music designed for popping and locking, or breaking. It is sometimes used synonymously with electro-hop, and is considered a sub-genre of hip-hop.
