Bardcore is a musical microgenre that became popular in 2020, consisting of medieval-inspired remakes of popular songs. The genre can primarily be traced back to Cornelius Link, whose cover of the song Astronomia (Which had recently become popular as part of the Coffin Dance meme) became somewhat of a meme, which led to a number of other artists doing their own takes on the style.
