i was such a big fan of them back in 2016 and i hadn't listened to this album until this year just because of other people said about it. gotta say i completely disagree with them, it's a great freaking album.

wanted to give it some time so my opinion could really form before i popped up in this shoutbox, and i can honestly say that i love the hell outta this album and that it easily beats trench for me in pretty much every way. no doubt in my mind, and i've felt like this since it dropped.. i definitely didn't think trench beat blurryface, albeit i did get into them right before blurryface came out. trench was a great album but had a tendency to feel a bit dragged out and feeling over-polished / over-perfected / over-worked from a songwriting perspective and as a front to back listen, this is much more consistent in vibe and quality. trench is the mainstream's favorite because it's their most blurryface-like record that isn't blurryface, but the importance of this album will stand out way more than it already does with time. easily one of their best albums, instantly feels at home as an addition to their discography and is a quality progression for the band.

and to everyone with 3000 trench scrobbles and 12 scrobbles of every other twenty one pilots project that's genuinely angry or being disrespectful to the band and/or fans because they're mad they didn't get Trench 2: go fuck yourselves, i am so grateful that you dipshits didn't get what you wanted l0l. 🖕

that's fine, i'm excited af for clancy. i was far more specifically annoyed at people acting like they fell off because they didn't instantly make a follow up to trench than i was at the concept of getting a follow up to trench. love trench, love overcompensate, hyped for the album + tour

Mediocre? I get that some songs aren't that good, but it has redecorate, choker, shy away and formidable. Not to forget that like half of Blurryface is bad (polarize, doubt, the judge, goner, etc.) And this album is probably better than vessel (and don't get me wrong, i love vessel) yeah, it isn't trench 2 but not every song has to be as equal as good as levitate, chlorine, nico, ride, heavydirtysoul or stressed out

Yes, it's their weakest album. But it's not bad, the bar just was set too high. Also, I have no problem with pop songs because: - Tyler is happy (I went through "sad rock->happy pop" music with Blue October); – It's part of lore (bright escapism in dark Dema); – It's new direction for Tyler (name at least one such huge band who makes EVERY album totally different). I'm still believe that new album will come soon. At least because SAI is just 37 minutes long. Tyler's workaholism + 1.5 years without shows = damn, he could write even three albums. But unfortunately, Livestream gave no proof about it.
