The Backstabbers Country Stringband is a traditional acoustic string band out of Toronto, Canada. Before the Bluegrass revival of O Brother, Where Art Thou? these guys were playing South-Western Ontario with a mix of mandolin, violin, acoustic guitar, auto-harp, upright bass, harmonized vocals around a single antique microphone at center stage. They're a celebration of good times, good drinking, and all great ole things about country. Releases include S/T (2000), Let the Sunshine In (2002), and Deep, Dark & Dangerous (2005). Members include: Tom Parker (vocals, mandolin, guitar), Bob Hannan (vocals, guitar, autoharp), Tony Allen (fiddle, vocals), Kristine Schmitt (vocals), Sam Petite (bass).
Mandolin/Guitar player Colonel Tom released his own Childrens album Songs For The Young'uns.
Tony Allen released a solo album Steam in 2007 who performed as Tony Allen's Good Right Arm featuring Kristine Schmitt (vocals, mandolin), Sam Petite (upright bass), Chris Coole (Banjo, Guitar) and Tony Allen (violin).
