On September 9, 2022, Searows posted an initial release of “House Song” on Tiktok with the caption, “personification of a childhood bedroom or something.. 🪟 :) .” The sound went relatively viral, and it was officially released to streaming platforms on February 3, 2023.
In these lyrics, Searows writes himself into the role of childhood bedroom, looking back at the pain and abuse present in his formative years. These things require maintenance, much like a broken window or faulty hinge. Duckart ultimately considers the terror of human coexistence– marks on walls and stains on carpets are unbearable and need to be purged.
