gorduratrans is a Brazilian shoegaze and noise rock duo composed by Felipe Aguiar (vocals and guitar) and Luiz Felipe Marinho (backing vocals and drums). Their debut album, “repertório infindável de dolorosas piadas”, was released on September 27, 2015, by the Rio de Janeiro label Bichano Records, and gained prominence in some music press outlets, including the youtube channel "The Needle Drop" , created by music critic Anthony Fantano. Recorded (with the exception of the drums), mixed and mastered by themselves in Luiz's room, in Baixada Fluminense, the album presents influences from British shoegaze canons, such as Ride and My Bloody Valentine, fused with strong names from the Brazilian underground, among the of which Ludovic and Lupe de Lupe stand out. The seven songs, classified by Altnewspaper as “bedroom rock”, vomit feelings and vary between slow melodies (“confusão”, “você não sabe quantas horas eu passei olhando pra você”) and aggressive (“sozinho e babaca”), having as a guide the complications of youth when dealing with loves and relationships that fell by the wayside, but were never forgotten. The instrumental “hércules quasímodo”, which tries to sound like J Mascis composing the soundtrack to Guerra de Canudos, makes room for “vcnvqnd”, which was released as a single in a different version than the album. The harrowing lightness of the final number, “artes,” puts an end to the agony.
