“You Stupid Bitch” is about having this crush on your friend, but having to watch them get emotionally hurt, and constantly thinking that you’d be better for them than everyone else.

"The story here is that I had to go and comfort someone because of their broken relationships with other people. But really: ‘I’m here, I could be yours right now and you wouldn’t be going through all of this if you just saw how present I am and how much I want to be with you.’ It’s about being so angry but still comforting someone: ‘I love you but you’re fucking stupid.’ It is a really intense song, but it’s going to go hard live."

In a press release reported by NME on April 14th, 2021, Ulven spoke about the difficult, complicated friendship that inspired the unapologetic lyrics for the song:

"There’s this line from this movie I love, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", that goes: ‘We accept the love we think we deserve.’ It’s a very heartbreaking line, but it’s really what I was experiencing in this situation, where I was always there for this person who would get their heart broken, and I would just come running. I would drop everything just to be there for them. That person would never see me as anything else than just a friend, even though I feel like I could’ve made her so happy. The core essence of this track is like, I’m obviously here for you, and I want to be with you, but you keep messing around with other people, and you keep getting broken. It’s this really direct, straightforward track."
