Biography

Blackannis, also known by her real name of Samantha Dean, started making music in 2001, using the first release of the music software Reason, and inspired by survival horror videogame music and a plethora of trip-hop artists.
She later became one of the founding members of the Broken Notes collective, a group that produced fan music inspired by Akira Yamaoka, the man behind the soundtracks to the game 'Silent Hill'.
She left the now-defunct collective in 2004, mainly due to time constraints, but she still manages to produce a new track or two every so often.
It must be noted that despite a minor musical background, she cannot read music, therefore everything she does is by ear alone, which can prove taxing when recreating videogame music for remixes.
